based on recent scores

1) FHS -beat LHHS in league play - when it matters
2) LHHS - will challenge for 1 all season
3) BMHS- undefeated in conference play
4) BHS- big wins over WHS and KVHS this weekend while missing starting guard
5) WHS- on a low right now but will be back
6) St Stephen - playing well but haven't beaten any of the teams ahead of them
7) Sussex - same as St Stephen except they lost to St Stephen
Cool MHS - will be climbing now they are healthy
9) DRHS- some big league wins
10) KVHS - should be higher but aren't getting the wins on the court...

3 to 10 are interchangable with any one of them capable of beating any other one. And by January crunch time , there could be some surprise upsets in AAA boys play. Gonna make for some great hoops for basketball fans to watch.

Parity in AAA hoops ?

Yes except 1 and 2 appear to be in a league of their own right now.....but not unbeatable by some of the other lower ranked teams ... maybe???....

Hmmmm , woodstock ahead of FHS and LHHS , based on results of a tournament held in Woodstock?? Might be a bit premature , because league results tell a different story. However as was stated here previously. AAA in NB is fairly wide open. On any given day any of the top 10 could knock off any of the others.
Woodstocks 50-6 run vs the black kats in the TVC was impressive to watch though...

Which leads to another question...which of the top 10 AAA teams in NB would a top seed least liketo play in a regional?

Ditto....Ranking the top 3 can be difficult at times. It's easy to go by the what have you done later method that I took. Actually, I think that Woodstock will have their hands full tonight with Oromocto. I heard Oromocto looked pretty good in a tournament over the holidays(Albeit, against so-so competition). Oromocto waxed Sugarloaf by 25 and might have some momentum, while Woodstock is probably overlooking them. That being said, watch Oromocto lose by 50.

I think that Sussex and Moncton will be tough outs come regionals. What would your Top 10 look like?

This week my top 10 is not much different than yours....but some big conference games coming up that could change things...

teams that I would not want to see in a regional win-or-go-home scenario BMHS , St Stephen , Sussex or DRHS

im from harvey and we played bathurst st stephen and fhs this season, all beat us handily but i think fhs is a cut above anyone of those teams, as much as people were talkin about bhs they didn't seem that great, we just sucked. and st stephen, they good too but not great

The Standings for the top 3 in the west are set:

1) FHS
2) LHHS
3) WHS

This is the way that these 3 will finish, Oromocto and Carleton North still have 1 game left to play for the 4th spot

So how much does it suck to be the team in the south that comes up short of first and gets stuck as the 2 seed in the first rnd game against a 3 seeded Woodstock.

The big question I've been thinking about with AAA though is in 1st place game of that South-West regional do you want to finish 1st. Sure you get home court for provincial sectionals, but you also get the 3rd team from the SW on your side. Would you rather go on the road as the 2 seed and avoid the pool of death?

Just wondering if by the 3rd game of the regionals for some of these teams is some players will have strains or pulls that need to be "rested" to save them for next weekend.

FHS, LHHS and WHS all match up aginst each other very well im sure they would much rather own home court advantage. Expecially when they would most likely have to travel to Dlahousie or at best Moncton.

MHS over DRHS by 12 tonight....at DRHS...good game ....a win over BHS tomorrow virtually clinches 1st place in NE conference for them...

Hmmm....if things come down as they should....you will likely have 1) FHS , 2) LHHS, 3) WHS and either 4) Sussex, St Stephen or KV come out of the south west conference tournament
Then the regionals ( sectionals , whichever they are called)
Will have a) Northeast 1 NE) MHS vs 4sw)Sussex...a game that could be won by
the 4 seed
2SW) LHHS vs 3NE) BHS ,DRHS, or BMHS...

b) Southwest 1SW) FHS vs 4 NE ) BHS,DRHS, or BMHS

2NE) BHS ,DRHS, or BMHS vs 3SW) WHS

Hmmm maybe NE teams will be angling for 3rd spot rather than 2????

I dont know ,either sectional looks pretty tough to win..

Right now in the South West Regionals this is what it looks like:

@ Fredericton High.

west #1 FHS vs. south #4 Rothesay
west #2 LHHS vs south #3---could be St. Stephen or KVHS
west #3 WHS vs south #2----could be Sussex or St. Stephen
west #4 Oromocto vs south #1---could be Sussex or KVHS

It all comes down to the game between Sussex and KVHS after exams. If KV wins, they finish 1st, Sussex 2nd and St Stephen 3rd.

If Sussex wins the Sussex 1st, St. Stephen 2nd and KVHS 3rd.

This is interesting, because nobody will know who they're playing until the day before the regional tournament...no prep time there.

Right now though---out of the "Big 3", I would rather play LHHS...they don't seem to be as sharp as they once were. They got hammered by FHS by 30...then WHS turns around and beats FHS by 3 two days later.

WHS might be the most dangerous team out there!!

Ok folks AAA schedules are set...

LHHS vs DRHS
FHS vs BMHS

MHS vs KVHS
BHS vs WHS

Hmmmmm any predictions?

Here are mine

LHHS over DRHS
FHS over BMHS
LHHS ove FHS to go to the AC

KVHS ove MHS
WHS over BHS (but it will be close)

WHS to the AC

What do you guys think?

So in the realm most shock value, greatest news paper stories and most likely to rile up fans at all levels of basketball:

DRHS over LEO Hayes
BMHS over FHS

DRHS over BMHS

BHS over WHS
KVHS over MHS

BHS over KVHS

DRHS vs BHS @ AUC - All north all the time.

DRHS over BHS.

Great story, lots of drama, huge upsets for people to talk about, all the AA fans freak out when DRHS wins AAA title then drop down next year . . . lots for everyone to talk about.

although I think that DRHS and BHS are the most likely candidates to pull off an upset, the only question I have for Coach DJR is where are you getting the good drugs and why aren't you sharing
