We do have two transfers.

Jany Ondongo is the one from the US, he came to us last November but was ruled ineligible because he was staying with a legal guardian. He is in grade 12 now. He's a 6'5" post player.

The other is Wil Konybai who is from Calgary. He's a 6'1" scoring guard that can also provide some minutes at the point if needed, however, we're pretty heavy at the PG spot. He was a city All-Star last year in Calgary.

Just saw St. Pat's gets (defending 4A OFSAA Champs) Vaughan for the 3rd year in a row in round-robin play for the Early Bird Classic at Father Henry Carr in early November. That will be a war. If they are at full strength, I see the Irish competing with any team there. I see them as a potential top 5 team in the province, on paper. Have to play the games, though. Last year's 2A OFSAA Semifinalists, Richview (Toronto), is their other matchup.

FYI..Richview was a semi finalist at 2A OFSAA. They lost in the semis and finished 4th with the antique Bronze medal. Smiths Falls was the 2A OFSAA champ in 2011.

Of course. Thank you for the correction.

Are there any junior-aged players being moved up to their senior teams? With Ola Ogungbemile & Gilad Streiner leaving SRB, does Ismael Kaba move up to give the frontcourt some help? Someone like West Carleton's Corey Johnson can make a big impact at the senior level. Gisa-Arnold Kayijamahe joining Elliott Dooley in the St. Francis Xavier backcourt? 6'5" Eddie Ekiyor playing for the MT seniors as a grade 9?

When is the latest a team can decide which tier they are going into? Considering the season starts in a couple of weeks

I am pretty sure that teams have already had to declare their intentions for ofsaa division, tier one, or tier two. I know that I received an email today asking for tier one and ofsaa coaches to verify their contact information. The tier two teams were not on that list.

BJH, with so many returning players from last year's team and the valuable leadership and development opportunities Ismail will get being the go to guy in junior, we have decided to keep Ismail in junior.

I just saw St. Peter's beat St. Pats by quite a bit. I am not sure of the final, but it was an 18 pt difference with about 1:30 left in the game. Surely, this win puts St. Peter in the discussion for ranking the top teams in the city. They looked solid defensively and move the ball well on offense. I am not sure how deep they are, but they were deep enough to win a very competitive St. Matts tournament. Games that matter start this week so a lot of this will start becoming more and more clear as the season rolls on.

That's an impressive win. I assume St. Pete's are still playing without Dylon Goodyear, a lanky 6'7" forward who played on their junior team last year and played over the summer as a key member of the Ottawa Guardsmen 16U team.

The biggest player from St. Petes was a player they called Luca I believe and I dont think he is any bigger than 6'4"-6'5".

Dylon was there, but did not dress. He is injured, I believe. I asked him when he was back, and he said "soon".

League Play:
Earl of March 66 (Idan Itskovitch 19, Ryan Evans 13)
SRB 61 (Mustafa Abdi 22, Jamal Aden 16)

Earl wins a sloppy one. Halftime score was 29-19 EOM. They held the lead by as many as 17 (42-25), but a 15-0 run to end the 3rd Q, keyed by Mustafa's 13, gave SRB some hope. An And-1 by EOM guard (#3) with 36 seconds left broke a 59-59 tie. Jamal was fouled on a 3-pointer with 21 seconds and made 2 of 3 to pull within one, but Idan sealed it for EOM with 4 free-throws. Idan scored all his 19 in the 2nd half. Mustafa only played the 2nd half.

Elsewhere, Louis Riel won a big heavyweight tilt against St. Pete's, 63-59.

Dec. 5: Glebe 51, St. Peter 45 Shocked

Biggest upset I've heard since Franco Ouest beat Louis Riel, 56-55, at the Referees' tournament.

St. Pat's had a pretty good weekend at the SOSI tournament in Hamilton:

L 76-67, Cardinal Newman (Hamilton) - ended up winning the tournament with 76-51 win over ACMT
TS: Marial Shayok 19, Jany Ondongo 10

W 81-67, Bluevale (Waterloo)
TS: Marial Shayok 22, Jordy Kabuya 13, Ernest Tolete 10

W 96-70, St. Aloysius Gonzaga (Mississauga)
TS: Marial Shayok 36, Braeden Wilkinson 10

W 77-76, Nelson (Burlington) - Marial hits a contested fall-away 3-pointer at the buzzer to win Consolation Final
TS: Marial Shayok 27 (*named a tournament all-star)

Apparently St. FX has lost one of their better players in Akin Enikolaiye for the rest of the season, because of transfer issues.. As a result, the squad had to forfeit their earlier win against Hillcrest, and are now 1-2 because of it (they won after the suspension at St. Joe's).

Also, Pius suffers a big loss in starting pg Nick Jordan, who could be out for the year with a broken wrist.

Anyone NOT paying attention to the OFSAA division is missing out on what could be an amazing end to the regular season as spots 1-5 could change with each game.

Looks like its going to be a highly contested end to the season with each team jockeying for position!

If Glebe and St. Petes get two of the births and the third birth goes to any of the other four schools currently in a playoff position, then there is no decisions as Glebe and St. Petes are both AAAA schools and the other school will have to compete at AAA. If two or more AAA teams qualify, then the teams that finish the highest in the playoffs (champion, then finalist, then qualifier) decide which ofsaa they want to go to in that order. If one AAAA school qualifies, then they automatically go AAAA and the previous set up applies for the two AAA schools.

so lets say two AAA teams face in the finals. the winner followed by the finalist would decide where they go first? what about if 2 AAAA teams lose in the semi-finals, would they do a game to decide who gets the other birth?

As per the NCSSAA Constitution, the champion would pick AAA or AAAA.

If the champion chooses AAA then the finalist, as well as the winner of a match between the semi-final losers, would qualify for AAAA.

If the champion chooses AAAA then the finalist would also get a choice and the remaining spot would be filled by the winner of match between the semi-final losers. (This is unless one is a AAAA team and only a AAA spot is left; then the AAA semi-finalist automatically gets a spot. They're can't be two AAAA teams in this scenario as the rules call for the semi-finals to be rearranged so that the two AAA teams meet each other and the two AAAA teams play each other.)
