Leboldus beat us (SACHS) by 17 in the final. They were a very skilled team with very good inside / outside play. We simply could not handle their size (2 provincial team players - one 6'3, the other 5'11 (#11 - scored 30+ inside and out) plus we got into huge foul trouble trying to defend the post. It was a 2 pt game with 2:30 left in first half and we were outscored 9-0 after having to sub out some starters in foul trouble. We made a push to get it to single digits but in the end, their size and our foul trouble dictated the game. It was great to see what we need to work on in terms of defending quality bigs plus its always great to look on tape and see some of the silly fouls or rotation issues that plagued us. ABJ beat Oleary for 3rd place.
Not sure what this tournament clarified for Edmonton girls basketball - we are staying 3A, ABJ is staying 4A. Traditional power programs struggled this weekend but its so early its tough to gauge where people will be by the end of Feb.
I would be interested to hear other scores out of Calgary or in the South if there were games played. I am curious as to how McCoy did against Paul Kane in SAIT tournament and who played in that final.
