PostSubject: Best 2A and 3A teams in the South   Mon Oct 24, 2011 6:42 pm

3A I think McCoy will be strong again this year. They have Cierra and Dakota returning.
2A Immanuel Christian is again the team to beat.

4A - Western has to be top. They return size and skill AND are the defending champions.
Centennial returns a lot of quality size and guard play as well. I think they will battle Western.
SWC - lost their 2 key players - what about the rest?
Bishope O'Bryne - they should be pretty good as I believe they were young last year. Calgary people need to help me out on these ones.

I think that basketball in general will be down in the Edmonton area. Traditional powers graduated big plus new coaches are popping up across the board.

In Edmonton 4A
Spruce Grove should be top - good size and their guards are underrated.
Traditional powers will be weaker - Oleary, have new coaches and graduated 6 including Adut(league MVP) - their junior team was OK but nothing crazy, JP graduated 9, Scona is young with new coach, Harry Ainley returns some quality players with John Huot back behind the bench, ABJ is now 3A, Bev Facey will be OK as will St. FX. Dark horses might include Sturgeon as they have been playing together now for awhile and have good coaching, PK has size (Whitney @ 6's) and quick guards - not sure who is coaching.

In 3A top contenders should be McCoy who return 10 and get more size from junior team, SACHS return 8 with some quality 10's (still toying with going 4A but size hurts us as usual), ABJ - good size, lots of depth (will have a bunch of quality grade 10's - provincial / western games), Edmonton Christian return the bulk of their team and have excellent coaching, Holy Trinity from Okotoks have quality players back as well.. Magrath graduated Jenell G so that hurts, George Mc (airdrie is 4A now) so some of the teams at provincials last year aren't even 3A.

In the Edmonton Metro;
ABJ & SACHS should battle for top spot (just based on people returning)
PK
Oleary
Sturgeon
SFX, BF, Sal, - really more of a crap-shoot this year than ever before.
We have our meeting on wednesday to see which schools may opt up to playing premier so we may have some new teams.

looks like Raymond again for #1 in the south, heck maybe CCH will make a run again if Dawns recruiting went well!
Cardston should be in the mix, just not good enough again for #1!

Appreciate your optimism , buy they were 5th last year with Janelle, Raymond only graduated 2 girls . So if wild card is 5th then you probably are right!
This new format of league is going to be interesting!

Ok, maybe taken out of context. Magrath will overachieve as they always do! Just like the 2 small towns on either side of them! Lots of Bball tradition in these 3 little towns who always play in a higher division than what they actually are!!

Why is St. Albert not going 4A? Interesting- they have great coaching that can overcome height. Spruce Grove, Ainlay, Scona and Facey are going to be very strong. ABJ and O'leary could be okay but are very young. afro
