PostSubject: Point Grey Tournament   Sat Dec 03, 2011 11:14 pm

Tupper jumped out to an 18 point lead on Churchill in the PG Tournament final led by Cam Smythe who had 28 at half-time. However Mindy Manhas got Churchill back in the game and they got it to 3 points with a minute to go. They couldn't complete the comeback and Tupper won 79 to 72. Smythe ended up with 40 points, over 20 boards and 11 blocks while Minhas had 30 points for Churchill.
In the 3rd place game Palmer beat Point Grey 70 to 64 with Madewan getting 23 points and 15 boards and Tyler Debeer also getting a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds and Maveety had 28 for Point Grey.
Seycove beat Sentinel in overtime in the 4th place game and Sentinel had to finish the last 3 minutes of OT with only 4 players. Cambie beat David Thompson in the 7th place game.
Smythe was MVP and Minhas, Maveety, & Madewan 1st all-stars, sorry I can't remember who the other all-stars were.

After a crazy start to the season, I would think we will have a new number 1 team, Pitt Meadows. I think they are undefeated to start the season, as the other top 3 (Kelowna, VC, Mouat) have all suffered losses . If a new Top 10 comes out this week, I expect Pitt to be the new number 1 team in the province.

Pitts off to a good start BUT have they played any of the top seeds as of yet ???? What about WRCA who beat Mouatt or Fox who beat both College and Kelowna this past weekend

I agree that Pitt has not played any of the top teams yet, but they started the season number 4 so don't think anyone can leap over them yet. WRCA, Fox and WG are all off to great starts so should move up. Season is really , really early and lots of teams battling injuries and getting into form. Kelowna, VC, St.George's, Mouat will ALL be heard from before this is over. Along with Pitt, WRCA, Fox and Grove and this will be an exciting season.

Pitt vs WRCA in opening round of Telus tourney this coming week.

Who would you put out of the top 4 to add WG ?

Also Oak Bay lost to Tamanawis who wasn't even ranked, so why would I add them ?

Oak Bay was missing a handful of key players due to volleyball.

No 100 per cent sure, but Mount Douglas was probably also missing players due to football finals.

I would rank WG above Kits and possibly VC. Mouat has already beaten KITs in exhibition play minus three of there starters! And Oak Bay will be minimun top ten! Just saying.

PostSubject: Rankings   Mon Dec 05, 2011 3:19 pm

I have actually had a few conversatrions with some coaches this year about teams being penalized for missing players.

To me, a loss is a loss, especially this early in the season with players missing due to soccer, volleyball, football etc etc.

Kelowna had Truss and Goodwin missing because of volleyball and lost 2 games (WG + Fox). Should they be able to stay at #1 because they had 2 starters missing ?? Fox had players missing 2 weeks ago when they lost to Kits.

So if you think Kelowna should move down in the rankings, you can't randomly add Oak Bay who has not beaten any ranked teams (as far as I know).

The other thing is, teams could not legally play exhibition games until November 28th I believe ? Should games that are played before that count towards any kind of rankings ?? Teams do play games and tournaments before that time but most teams just start random players and playing time is usually equal. Depends on what you believe, then WG beating Kits and Kits beating Fox shouldn't affect the rankings.

Pretty sure Oak Bay beat both Mouat and Walnut Grove, but both those exhibitions were before Nov. 28.

Jesse coy with an absolute phenominal game. Had 33(edit) in the game with a great shooting percentage as well. A completely clutch player. Tristan Etienne with a very solid game as well. Did great against more experienced post players Dawson and Luka.

This win should put Fox 2nd in the rankings with Pitt #1. WRCA probably 3rd.
