Sounds like a close game; Also in the North Surrey Tournament;

Lord Tweedsmuir over McMath 61-44
Panorama Ridge over Point Grey
Kits over Tammy - 50-45
North Surrey vs. Southridge

Too bad Tammy and Kits had to play each other in the first round; seems to me the top 4 teams are Tweeds, Panorama, Kits and Tammy.

Tamanawis beat Kits by 45-40, you are incorrect sir

I was incorrect - my apologies. A lesson learned for hearing things 3rd hand! Thanks for the correction.

Tamanawis did beat Kits 45-40 last night, and also beat North Surrey in the Semi's.

Lord Tweedsmuir beat Panorama Ridge in the other Semi Final, so its Tammy vs. LT in the final tonight.

Should be a good one - wish I could make it!

Don't think they did MVP's or all-stars....

Was a close game with a few lead changes in the 4th quarter, and Tammy came from behind with great 3 point shooting. Tweedsmuir missed a 3 at the buzzer to tie, but the final was 49-46. LT was up by double digits at a couple of times but Tammy would respond with 3 pointers and got hot at the right time. Good game.

Panorama finished 3rd in a triple overtime game vs. North Surrey
Kits finished 4th with a 61-42 win over McMath on the consolation side.

I know that one of Tamanawis' stronger players (#12) had a bad collision with a Tweedsmuir player and had what appeared to be a concussion. Pretty scary as he was down for about 10 minutes and had to be helped off.

I doubt that he'd be available to play as that was only 3 days ago. Would have been good to see St. Georges play a Tammy team at full strength. I would expect St. Georges to win this matchup. Tammy is a good team but they score a very high percentage of their points from behind the arc.

St. George's beat Tamanawis this afternoon 60-44 (or 46). #7 shot (and finished) well or it could have much bigger win. Tammy is a solid team, but didn't have the size to stay with Saints. Defense won this game. Saints are now 17-0.

VC beats Saints today 66-58 at home. Close game - tied with 2 mins remaining. Intentional fouls created difference at end. Fouls played big part for both teams. Each team's big guy in foul trouble. End Q1 Saints 17-14, Q2 VC 33-26, Q3 VC 46-45. I hope they meet again. EJ for VC played a solid game and nailed FTs at end. I hope they play again..... Always a good rivalry.

Is there going to be a third and deciding game for the Junior? I know the Varsity will be playing a third game to decide the league winner, time and place to be announced.

PostSubject: VC vs Saints- Tie Breaker- Not needed   Wed Feb 08, 2012 7:30 pm

They should not need to do a tie breaker for the following reasons:
- Varsity Tournament is hosted by BCHSS and an actual association. At the Junior level- schools take turns hosting the tournament every two-three years, so the host school gets an automatic berth.
- VC is the Host- automatic berth. So the actual berth that is up for grabs will be for Vancouver 2 vs Winner of Saints/STM/St Pats
- Once teams are in the Junior Tournament, they will likely be seeded by either a conference call between all coaches, or the tournament organizers will do it. In the past some hosts have used the conference call, while other hosts have simply seeded teams from game stats. This is when they would need to look at seasons records, games played, strength of competition, etc.

It was an exciting game to watch. There is no question of effort or talent....it comes down to which team shows up to play on which night.

Another reminder of how exciting this JV Provincial Tournament will be.

PostSubject: Claremont-SMUS showdown   Thu Feb 09, 2012 1:17 pm

Lower Island League

Wednesday Results
Claremont 49 SMUS 43
Oak Bay def. Reynolds by 11

Claremont-SMUS game was very close, defensive battle. SMUS overcame an early double-digit deficit to lead by one at the end of the 3rd quarter. SMUS led by two points with the ball on a number of occasions in the fourth but could not extend the lead. Was a two-point game in the final two minutes, coming down to intentional fouls at the end. Win gave Claremont a 10-0 league record. SMUS fell to 7-2.

Friday Game
Lambrick Park (8-1) at SMUS (7-2). Game will decide order of finish from 2nd through 4th in Lower Island League, as Oak Bay finished at 8-2.

Lower Island playoffs start Monday. Only three teams advance to Islands. Should be a dogfight!
