Fox was a little rusty and gave up way too many second and third chances to an active Grove team. Fouls were 8-2 for Grove in the 4th but like the last poster stated they couldn't finish from the line. Good game between two of the top teams in the Valley.

Watch out for Fox and sure they are a solid force to reckon with. They are so active under the board and had too many easy put-backs. Both teams have all the tools to go deeper in the FV. Once the rustiness of winter break is dusted off, both will be a different team than today.

I heard Moaut beat Burnaby South by 5 or so in 2nd ot i heard it was a nail bitter. Also I heard Terry Fox beat Walnut Grove, walnut grove misses too many free thrown which was why they lost, Varun Kumar had a good game.

PostSubject: Sardis junior team   Tue Jan 03, 2012 1:30 am

The Sardis Junior Boys' team is made up mostly of last year's very strong grade 9 team from Vedder Middle School. A great team last year and if their core stayed together and their big man did not move up, I agree with Walnutfan, a force to be reckoned with. Another reason the Valley at both the jr and sr levels is very tough.

Early foul trouble and an ejection took Riverside out of the game. Fox's leading scorer Liam Hancock DNP due to illness.

Mouat Tourney

Semis:
Mouat 52 Sardis 51 - good game with the lead going back and forth for most of the game. Very evenly matched teams. Not a lot of height on either team but both are tough and very well coached.

Fleetwood beat Elphinstone by about 10 - Elphinstone lost one of their players early in the game to an injury.

Hi All

For 3rd place- Burnaby South was down by about 16 in the game, but came back to win against SMUS- can't remember the score. Sorry. Bravo to SMUS for coming out strong after a rough game against VC. Bravo also to Burnaby South for turning the game around and winning after such a deficit.

VC beat Claremont in a very tight game- 62 to 60.
VC maintained the lead most of the game, but there were a couple possessions where Claremont was in the lead. An exciting game to watch, and man are both of these teams good. A real pleasure to watch.

Yes the Emerald junior final tonight was a great one. Tournament MVP Elijah Campbell-Axon hit a pair of free throws with eight seconds left to give College the win. Game was very tight all the way and could have gone either way at the end. Two terrific and very athletic teams.

The SMUS-Burnaby South third-place game was also a good one. SMUS stormed out to a 20-4 first quarter lead, shaking off its worst outing of the season in the semifinal against College. But Burnaby South, which trailed by 10 at the half, clawed back and finally took the lead in the fourth quarter. SMUS ran out of gas, while South had a little more in the tank and wound up winning 58-49. Good battle by both teams.

Great tournament all around. Thank you VC hosts.

Saints 73 - Kits 60 last night. Saints led wire to wire and the result did not seem in jeopardy. Kits is a good team with some excellent players and it was a competitive game. Both teams seemed to substitute liberally though a core played more than others. The game was played at St. John's as a warm up exhibition prior to the ISAA Tournament that begins today. Saints has a bye Friday.

St. George's Jrs beat Collingwood 48-22 in semis of ISAA tournament. Play SMU in finals at 4pm. Should be a good game. SMU is skilled and fast - they defeated St. John's handily.

Nice performance by St. George's in the final. Drew Urqhuardt was a beast for the Saints, who in the second half blew open what had started as a relatively close game. Solid tournament for SMUS, despite the second-half fade in the final. St. John's did a nice job running the tournament. Great facility and hosts.
