First Round Action -

Game #3 1:45P New Westminster - Kitsilano (6)
Kitsilano

Game #1 2:30P Argyle (HM)- Tupper (10)
Charles Tupper

Game #7 2:30P Southridge (2A-10) - Vancouver College (2)
Vancouver College

Game #5 2:30P Pitt Meadows (4) - WRCA (5)
White Rock Christian Academy

Game #4 3:30P Tamanawis (HM) - Kelowna (1)
Kitsilano

Game #2 4:15P Sullivan (NR) - Saint George's (9)
Charles Tupper

Game #8 4:15P Churchill (HM) - Burnaby South (7)
Vancouver College

Game #6 4:15P Palmer (2A-6) - Windsor (2A-HM)
White Rock Christian Academy

Winner New West - Kits plays Winner Tammy - Kelowna
Winner Argyle - Tupper plays Winner Sullivan - St. Georges
Winner Southridge - Vanc. College plays Winner Churchill - Bby South
Winner Pitt Meadows - WRCA plays Winner Palmer - Windsor

Though it's tough to see either Pitt or WRCA not make the second round while at least five lower ranked teams will, I believe each team's goal is to win the tournament, and as such, it does not matter to them who they play, nor when they play, as they have to beat everyone they play to win it all anyways.

Underlines are my picks for 1st round. Italics show my picks for second round winners.

Weird draw with Pitt and WRCA first round.

Tupper won 74-67, putting it within reach with 1-2 minutes remaining. Anyone know who #13 on Argyle is? He did a solid job against Cam. Tupper lacks much depth, I won't be surprised if they don't make provincials.

Pitt over WRCA 67-58. WRCA was up by 3 or 4 for most of the game. Pitt tied it up at 55 with 4 minutes to go and played some great defence forcing many WRCA turnovers in the stretch to close it out. Good game.

Yes basketball77, agreed. Tupper will have problems with depth and experience.. Despite Smythe and Kim, No help from the grade 11's who have not been competitive in any of the 3 years they've played so far. They have no so much as even played in a city semi-final. Churchill and Kits in a much better position in terms of depth and gr 11 contribution. Though Tupper beat Churchill last weekend, look for Kits and Churchill to improve more than Tupper does during the course of the year. Should be a fun city championship.

Nice job by Bby South playing up to potential while Windsor after a good showing against Terry Fox gets a nice win.

Kits - Kelowna 2:30 @ Kitsilano
Tupper - St. Georges 2:30 @ Tupper
Vanc. College - Bby South 2:30 @ Vanc. College
Pitt Meadows - Windsor 2:30 @WRCA

I'm going to guess Pitt - Van. College in one semi while Kelowna - St. Georges meet in the other.

I believe you mean #14 as he was guarding Cam Smyth. His name is Cole Faminoff, solid all around player who has been under the radar for quite some time. Profile on North pole hoops.

PostSubject: KELOWNA (1) VS TAMANAWIS (HM)   Thu Dec 08, 2011 3:35 pm

What a game this was ? Many scouts were watching this game at Kitslano. This game was battle of bigs and point guards from both teams. Both teams had their full squad meaning there was no excuses to say this or that player was missing.

FOR KELOWNA, #11 Mitch Goodwin played very strong game and score over 25 pts plus over 5 assists. #23 Braxton Bunce didn't scored too many points but dominated on defence ..must have gotten over 15 rebounds.

FOR TAMANAWIS: #15 Manny Dulay and #21 Ravjot Dhaliwall played a very strong game. Dulay scored around 15 pts and had over 15 assists. He had Kelowna on their heals through the whole game with his transitional game and great passing. Dhaliwall scored over 25 pts and around 10 rebounds plus had very strong game on shooting. #25 Junior scored over 20 pts.

Kelowna was up by 12 at beginning of 4th. Tammy made the come back in last 5 mins of 4th and had chance to tie the game....but made some crucial turnovers at the end to come up short. Overall was great game to watch.

FINAL

Kelowna 88 - Tamanawis 81

St. George wins in a close one, 67-64. Tupper led most of the way till mid-way of the 4th. Showed their lack of depth once again with Smythe, Kim and Corpuz with most of the points. St. George pulled a great effort and won in the end with #15 the leading scorer.

Kelowna, behind Mitchell Goodwins 30 points needed OT to get past St. Georges 77-70 while Vancouver College guard, Isaiah Solomon just about out scored Pitt Meadows on his own as he had 46 in the Irish's 70-56 win over the Marauders.

Pitt- Saints in consolation while Kelowna - Van College play in the final tomorrow at UBC!
