Later this afternoon Coach Rich Goulet will take his team to the floor against Ken Dockendorf and the Maple Ridge Ramblers, to play for 1st place in the WJ Moaut Hwakball Invitational.
Any other year this trophy would be certainly be huge addition to a schools trophy case but this year it is even more. This year Coach Rich Goulet of the Pitt Meadows Marauders sits on 999 regular season wins coming into this game.
And that said, it is still not enough to express the meaning of this game.
The coaches of these two teams, though once long time friends, have let the game come between them and as such, this game will come down to be a bittersweet memory for both coaches when instead it should be a celebation of the game, the commitment and the life long dedication two great coaches have gave to the kids, the schools and the sport.
Regardless of the outcome today, tomorrow, win or lose by either team, I dare hope that there will be enough regrets on both sides that will lead to healing old wounds and these two great coaches, mentors and fans of the game can again enjoy the game as fierce rivals yet find thier past to again become best of friends.
