Girls- Cardston tournament Jan 6-7
Chinook (Lethbridge) Jan 13-14

Teams at Cardston: Cardston, Raymond, LCI, Magrath, St. Mary's, Centennial, E.P Scarlett, Immanuel Christian.
Pretty good lineup, have #2,#3,#5,#8 and 2 Honorable Mentions. Number 2 and 3, (Raymond and Centennial) potentially square off in semi final, that will most likely be the final!!

Safe to say that Spruce Grove is the favorite to win the Bev Facey tournament??
Probably the final will be the semi! SG vs ABJ

Interested in seeing how Cardston sets up this draw. Obviously, the four top 4A schools will get home court in first round. Realisticly all four should win and move on. The second round will be the trickiest. I think Cardston will have their best chance to move on if they play against Mary's but it doesn't sound fair to have the top two seeds playing against each other in the second round. To make this as ligit as possible, Cardston should play Cent in second round leaving Mary's to meet up with Raymond. That gives the two top seeds the best chance of meeting in the finals as well as schools from different areas playing against each other. I any one has the draw please submit.

PostSubject: Cardston....   Thu Jan 05, 2012 6:45 pm

Slow poke bounce ....the draw has nothing to do with being fair....lol !!! Cardston Basketball is hosting the tourney and has the perogative of setting up the tourney any way they like , much the same way Catholic Central did earlier and much the same way others set it up ....most teams understand this and accept it as coming with the territory ...Cardston historically has given themselves tougher games prior to the final ...ie playing Raymond etc...Raymond and Centennial should be a great game ... Basketball sunny sunny

I've got no real beef with the draw I was just saying. The draw actually gives both Mary's and Cardston a great chance at maing the finals. Although the game between Cent and Raymond will be great ,I just thought having Raymond and Cent in the finals would be the most exciting. Looking forward to hear how this tourney goes.

Slowpoke, first of all we (Raymond) received the draw before any of the rankings even came out. So they did a great job of setting up teams from different areas playing each other 1st, heck if they were other teams they would have put St.Mary's on the other side as well, they are not afraid of competition!!!

The Raymond/Centennial game was a great game, our Comets lead at half but just could'nt close out the game.
The final between Cardston /Centennial was also great, Cardston lead for 3/4 of the game, was tight right to the end with Cardston losing by 4!

In the third place game our Comets beat a good St.Mary's team by 8.
Consolation LCI beat a tough and gritty Immanuel Christian team by 2, no wonder they are the #1 2A team in the province!!!

Great tournament again Cardston!!

Edmonton teams you are missing out on one of the best run girls tournaments in Alberta!! (Wish Raymond had our own tournament!!!)

Maybe there is just a little more parity between the ranked teams. Mary's has got to be happy with staying so close to Raymond. And with Cardston staying neck and neck with Cent, that says a whole lot more about how good Cardston is. These games said a lot about all of the teams. Cent is certainly a top team. For sure top three in province, maybe top two. But all the games between the top four seeds was decided by 8 points or less. May not be a big difference between being ranked 3 or 10. Looks like a very tight knot of good teams in that group.

Didn't mean to dis the tourney. It's a good one and has done a lot to define how strong four of the top 10 are. Looks like the two best teams got to the finals.

Hey Southfan;
"Edmonton teams you are missing out on one of the best run girls tournaments in Alberta!!"
All we need is an invite and we would love to head South for a tournament.
