I havent heard much about the #2 seed in the tournament, Alberta #1 Harry Ainley. Have any BC teams played them this year?

As Pitt struggled against the #8 Jasper Place team at the BRIT winning 52-51, I have to guess the Harry Ainley is pretty strong.

Pretty tough for both Tammy and H.A. to meet first round where WRCA and Kits, both of which are lower ranked and have been beat by Tamanawis, more than once, face each other to open.

Having said that, I suppose the draw was made before Tamanawis has become consistent in beating the top teams and its pretty tough to find an easy route to the final for any team; a very strong field.

Just checking out the provincial rankings and I could not find anything for Saskatchewan (Balfour). St Francis is now ranked #2 in Alberta, so #1 & 2 from BC & Alta are in Kelowna. Kelowna may have given themselves a very tough draw with STF and PM on their side of the draw. I have heard that this tournament may be the best run tournament and best competition in Western Canada.

Why don't you stop spamming your site which you use to promote basketball tours led by you. The link for the tournament was posted by the thread starter and you come on with your shameless self promotion once again. Stop the SPAM.

I think that the Saaint Francis is the Calgary school, ranked 8th not STFX from Edmonton ranked 2. Great draw and yes Ainlay is very good with 2 starting teamAB players on it plus a boy from the Ukrainian national team. Very deep and from what I saw at the BRIT should be better than Pitt but we shall see.

St. Francis is from Calgary.

ToolD,

This has nothing to do with tours.

What I post is the format of the tournament in a tree format - which is updated throughout the event. This is not offered ANYWHERE else. This is not the grid format seen earlier in this post and not in a PDF format that the link goes to. I've been posting tournaments like this for 8+ years. Long before I started doing tours for teams other than my own. It should be noted that I started posting events in this format because of REQUESTS from fellow coaches as that is what they wanted to see opposed to a grid or line format. This was so they could easily see the scores of the games and where teams came from in the draw.

This is in no way SPAM - the use of electronic messaging to send unsolicited bulk messages indiscriminately.

Not saying it's spam but it would be great to have the polls, schedules, results etc. posted directly to this site without having to access another site. Gotta be a way.

When Howard does an article on a player or a team - a link to the story may get posted here sending you to Howard's blog on the Province's website.
http://blogs.theprovince.com/author/howardtsumura/

When Ron does pictures or stories on games - a link will get posted to his article on Ron's website.
www.ronhole.com

When Ryan Watters does a article on the Kelowna Western Canada tourney, he posted a link here to the story on his site.
www.ryanwatters.ca

So why is it any different when I do the same thing putting a link to the piece here and post it to Sportvictoria?

First of all when Ron Hole links his site he provides original stories/pictures(his own) as well he does provide us with his view on this site.

Tsumura doesn't come on here to tell everybody to go to the province website and again he provides his own stories.

You on the other hand continously post your link like in this thread.....many times it's for such simple things like rankings which you could provide here instead of starting a thread and telling us to go to your sight,,,,frustrating to say the least.

Here is an interview and the third Team Preview Posted for Next Weeks Western Canada Tournament in Kelowna.

http://www.ryanwatters.ca/basketball-tournament-preview-balfour-collegiate/

Also Can we try and keep the bashing off of this thread and keep to talking about High School Basketball? If We wanted bashing we'd go to the High School Football Forum!!

And No I am not Ryan Watters nor am I affiliated with The KSS Team. Just a huge Fan of this tournament having played in it myself back in the day (way back in the day!)

This is looking like a great draw, but I am seeing an Ainley/KSS final without much interference from the rest of the field as these two teams are head and shoulders over this very talented collection of highly ranked teams.

I tend to agree with the end prediction but maybe not so much they why.

Normally I would like Pitt's chances against Kelowna as they can match up fairly well across the board. Though undersized compared to Bunce in the post, Trevor Severinski and Ryan Hopsan can and have played with every big man the yhave faced. They also match up not too bad on Goodwin with Matt Blackaby and on Katerberg with Mitsu Iwau.

The key thoguh may be Pitt's depth players. They are not going to score a ton, but they will play solid team defense which can help contain Kelownas other goto guys, Darion Bunce and Buster Truss. It also gives them many fouls to play with as they can run five guys in off the bench and not miss a beat.

So, in my opinion, the problem for Pitt is not so much matching up, but thier schedule. The Fraser Valley North, with the exception of Terry Fox is very weak this year, and for the past two weeks that is all that Pitt has had for competition. I was at the Tamanawis - WRCA game the other night and there was more intensity in thier timeouts than there have been in Pitt's last few games. They do have Balfour to get through first of coursem and perhaps that will get them back into game shape, provided they win, for Kelowna, presuming the Owls win.

Just editing to add...you can't sleep on Tamanawis. Though I don't know about Alberta, on any given night they can beat any team in BC. They have size, speed, shooting and rebounding and can win just about any type of game that they other team wants to play. Just sayen.

That would be a great match-up for the final!

I thought I saw earlier in the season that Van College had pulled out of The Westerns. Can anyone confirm if that is true or provide a reason why they might have done that??

Really enjoying your work Ryan! It's always great to get coaches insight as to how they assess their teams. Thanks for the hard work!

Western Invitational website is one of the best tournament sites I have seen. Love the score sheet feature.

Same format that Basketball BC does for the AA and AAA playoffs.
