Not sure how they stack up with Lower Mainland squads but these are some of the stronger Island junior teams that figure to be in the mix in 2011/12:

Claremont Spartans
St. Michaels University School Blue Jaguars
Wellington Wildcats
Gulf Islands Secondary

KSS probably wont be fighting for the title as their best player Buzz Truss is playing senior, as well as possibly Drew Urquart

If thats the case KSS is out of the picture, but its going to interesting because the teams mentioned above have the ability to beat each other whenever. Just comes down to the last 2 minutes

My personal top 5 for the Jr.'s next year

1 Vancouver College Fighting Irish
2 Burnaby South Rebal
3 Walnut Grove Gators
4 Lord Tweedsmuir
5 W.J Mouat Hawks
HM Delta
HM St. George's Saints
HM McMath

Like was stated above without Buzz in the lineup Kelowna drops out of contention next year, I like Tweedsmuir, they have a strong Jr. team plus their Gr.8's made a push at Provincials this year which should feed their Jr.'s with some more talent.

this year i will be the head of junior boys rankings and will also be helping doing the seeding at this years junior boys provincials taking place at Vancouver College.
I want to get everyones input this year and will use everyones opinion when i do the rankings so feel free to tell me how everyones doing and who their playing and post results.
VC in my mind will be the very heavy favourite this upcoming season
Walnut grove wont have jadon cohee playing junior as he will be moving up to senior tristian ettiene and possibly corey hack will play senior for mouat. Buzz truss will play senior for kelowna. All drive boys with the exception of big man will latu and guard elijah campbell axon will be senior and the vc boys will play junior. Jalen jana has left the lord tweedsmuir program to play football over at st thomas moore. McMath junior boys will be bolstered by the return of grade 8 provincial 1st team all star mark vargas coming back from a season long injury and has been working hard to be ready for this upcoming season.
Denver sparks guest is over at gleneagle this season and i believe he will be playing senior for that squad.
Let me know what the rest of the bc boys are doing guys like gurjit and etc also noma has transferred from britannia over to kitsilano this year

look forward to everyones input on the forum lets use this as a positive way to further basketball in bc

My opinion on who has the best junior team based on who Karn says will be playing up. Not sure about Tammy, delta, chilliwack and Burnaby South as I think they might have a player or two move up as well but I've ranked them assuming they have all their players.

1. VC
2. Burnaby South
3. Tammaniwis
4. St. George's
5. McMath
6. Claremont
7. Kelowna (Drew in, Buzz playing up)
8. Delta
9. Chiliwack (used to be Vedder who were a good team)
10. Mouat (Even with the big guy and the guard playing up they'd still be solid!)
11. Richmond High
11. West Van
12. Pitt Meadows
13. Kitsilano
14. St. Michael's
15. Walnut Grove

I think teams 6-9 would all be close....

How come Churchill is not on the list, is Mindy and others playing senior?
Also, does anyone know if the new transfer rules start in Sept this year and if it does will that effect the transfers such as Noma and Jalen?

I think if they live in the catchment then it should be ok

Also can someone confirm if Urqhart has transferred to saints? If so its a great addition to their program.

My rankings are

1. VC
2. Burnaby South
3. Tammaniwis
4. St. George's
5. Kitsilano
6. Claremont
7. Kelowna
8. Delta
9. Chiliwack
10. Mouat
11. Richmond High
11. West Van
12. Pitt Meadows

Not much changed from the previous comment. Ive moved kitsilano up because I heard about their new players there adding Noma Obesaki 6'3 guard and Jonathan Kongbo 6'5 powerfoward. A team to look out for. VC yet again likely to win.

Interesting rankings. Handsworth is not even the best team on the Shore this year. Where are West Van and Elphinstone?

Nice picks, I agree with the top three
VC will be strong once again with Will L. and Elijah A.C.
Burnaby South with Martin B. and Jaycee P.
and St Georges with the addition of Drew U.

The valley will also be really strong this year with alot of good to great teams in Pitt, Tammy, Tweeds, Grove, Delview, Mouat and Fleetwood all fighting to make the provincials this year, should be fun to watch.

Agreed...West Van and Elphinstone are tough, especially Elphinstone. Lots of great early season games in the next few weeks. Dr. Charles Best tournament has a lot of quality teams. Keep your eyes on Heritage Woods and Riverside out of the Fraser Valley North, as well as STM.

VC beat Kits by 3 last night.
VC beat a scrappy Terry Fox team by 14 tonight. Fox held the VC big guy to 3 points and Elijah to only 9. Fox will make some noise in the Valleys.

Karn, didn't Claremont beat VC? Wouldn't that make them number 1? Did they lose to other teams?
