Surrey Playoff Quarter Finals;

Fleetwood Park over North Surrey
Panorama Ridge over Lord Tweedsmuir
Tamanawis over Holy Cross
Pacific Academy over Sullivan

Most games went as predicted, and the one game that was expected to go either way was Panorama/Tweedsmuir. Panorama plays a very aggressive defense and scored a lot of their points off turnovers. Tweedsmuir's youth showed last night as they had too many turnovers to overcome.

Tonight in the semi's it will be;
Fleetwood vs. Panorama @ 6:30 PM
Tamanawis vs. PA @ 8 PM

Losing teams will play for 5th-8th place, which really will determine seeding for FV as all 8 qualify.

Surrey has created a website to the tourney results, etc. Link is below

Sorry to hear that. You got good young team with lot of upside. No doubt that you are a going to be a great next year.

Thanks, we had a good year. Just didn't get it done when it counted. There are 4 strong teams on the South Island and, unfortunately, only 3 can advance to Islands. But SMUS will likely be a strong junior team next season as, at times, we started 3 Grade 9s this season. Good luck to Walnut Grove!

Surrey finals are Panorama vs. Tamanawis tonight

Panorama edged Fleetwood by 2, while Tamanawis beat Pacific Academy by about 20

Fleetwood now plays PA for 3rd,
Tweedsmuir plays Holy Cross for 5th. Holy Cross was down late to Sullivan Heights but hit a big 3 in the dying seconds to win it.

Should make for a great Final tonight. Tammy and Panorama have played a couple of times and all have been tight, tough contests. Panorama won the RCMP title, but Tamanawis beat them in their regular season showdown by 2 points.

Several good teams heading into Fraser Valleys; seeding will be interesting, as there will be some pretty tough teams getting lower seeds this year - could spell for some upsets.

Any word on what's happening in FV East, Abby, Delta and Pitt/Maple Ridge playoffs???

How does the FV seeding process work? Is it weighted heavily to the final city standings, or based on the entire season record, head to head matchups ,etc? will be interesting either way.

Thanks Mark. I'll certainly keep tabs on the BC junior scene next year but my son Matt will be in Grade 11. Fortunately for him, he is now getting a chance to join the SMUS senior team for their Island playoffs and, hopefully, BCs this year. So basketball season has been extended. Good luck to Ethan and St. George's in this year's junior post-season. You guys have a nice team.

Richmond Finals

MacNeill 77 Palmer 76

Great atmosphere in a packed gym and the game did not disappoint. Just an entertaining game with both teams going back and forth from start to finish. Both teams defended very well but both executed even better on the offensive end. The Ravens Umar Tung had a game high 34 points and 10 rebounds while big man Nathan Tomas had 13 and 10. Palmer's Antonio Jhuty had 27 and Gurjit Pooni had 25

Palmer was up 19-17 at the end of 1st and 40-37 at halftime. Swing man Antonio Jhuty who was lights out in the first half was in foul trouble and had to sit most of the 3rd, we were able to gain some momentum and the game was tied at 51 to end the 3rd quarter. Too many things happened in the 4th to write down but it was a great finish. Both teams left it out there and both teams played their best ball when it mattered most.

McMath won the 3rd place game 47-44

Have Walnut Grove and Panorama Ridge played? I think Gleneagle is the #1 seed in the Valley, these two will end up being the 2 and 3 seeds I bet.

8 Zone winners are the Top 8 seeds. The other 24 teams will be seeded starting at 9. Placings are decided on by ead to head, qulity of schedule etc.

Fox and Tammy have to be the top 2 non zone winning teams I think.

Does anyone else feel that Tamanawis and especially Fox, are getting ripped off by getting a 9th or lower seed ? Gleneagle and Fox are clearly the 2 best teams in the valley and the way it will be set up, Gleneagle will be 1, Fox at 9. So the 2 best teams will face each other in a do or die game. That is pretty shitty! Fox should be the #2 seed.

Mikeyb,

not sure how they will seed this year. In years past the league winners were given the top 8 seeds because there were 24 teams and thus the top 8 teams would get a first round bye (surrey was considered a double league due to size and had 2 in the top 8 ). Now that they are going to 32 teams, they may adopt the same seeding procedure as the seniors where everyone is ranked 1-32 and the only rule is that you cannot be ranked higher than someone above you in your league. If this was the case Fox could be seeded #2 (if gleneagle was #1) if the coaches feel that they are the 2nd best team.

Also if they did stay with the old format and Fox was #9,they would play #24 in round 1 and then most likely #8 in round 2. If they are as good as you claim they would have no problem with the #8 seed (the weakest of the league winners) and then would face Gleneagle in the final 8 which is the Championship tournament and double knockout at that stage. Hope this info helps.
