S.Delta 67-65 Clayton
Pitt 82-34 Bateman
Abby Col. 72-60 Elgin
Fox 112-43 Matheson
Ridge 64-50 Tweeds
WRCA 83-49 Kwantlen Park
Fleetwood 67-56 Sardis UPSET ALERT
Tammy 80-53 QE
Mouat 73-34 Gleneagle
Princess M 68-59 Seaquam
Enver 58-54 North Surrey
Port Moody 71-63 Centennial UPSET ALERT
Yale 101-73 Charles Best

Maple Ridge vs. WRCA is going to be a tough task for the warriors. Ridge has a chance to upset wrc on their own home floor.
After the 6 seed no one is guaranteed anything, a few upsets and close games shows a lot of balance after mouat. It will be interesting to see how the Sweet 16 plays out. Get your popcorn ready!

Over at Pitt Meadows the top seeds held serve. In the early game, Port Moody was able to keep it close until about 3:00 left in the 1st half when Yale went on a late run to lead by 10 at the break, 42-32. In the second the Lions put the hammer down and their fast paced offense was too much for the Blues as they ran to a 82-53 win to advance.

In the second game the home team Marauders jumped out early on the South Delta Sun Devils and using seven threes in the first half led comfortably at the break 49-23. While the starters finished off the game for all intents and purposes midway through the third, the bench kept up to stingy defense while still dropping baskets as the Marauders cruised to a 88-49 win.

The two winner from tonight, Yale and Pitt will meet at Pitt Meadows Secondary on Monday.

Over at Walnut

First game ND vs Enver - ND came out strong and played great defense in the first half holding Enver to 18 points at half time and leading by 15 3rd quarter enver got as close as 9 before ND's strong shooting pushed the lead back up to as high as 24 points and were up 20 with 3 minutes to go couple late 3s by enver to make the score closer ND 65 Enver 52

Walnut Grove vs Heritage Woods- This was all Walnut from the get go Mitch from heritage had to be subbed out for a little while with a bloody nose and Walnut used it to their advantage to push their lead ahead. Second half Jadon cohee took over an the starters for Walnut got plenty of rest as they cruised 81-59 win

Monday will be Enver and Heritage loser goes home
and Heavy favorite Walnut grove hosting ND

Tamanwis holds serve over #21 Fleetwood Park, winning by about a dozen in a somewhat competitive game. WRCA was up fifteen at half over #13 Maple Ridge and led by as much twenty before cruising to an eleven point win. #5 Tamanwis & #4 WRCA will meet for the 4th time Monday, should be close with the other 3 games decided by a combined 8 points.

Would also like to see this one, though Mouat - Fox will be a battle as well. It shows what a big game winning FV North was for Pitt as even as good an offense as Yale has, you can bet Pitt is happy not having to see Mouat at this point as they got beat by Mouat in this very game last year.

Monday will be another exciting day of the Valleys as 4 teams will be packing it in and 4 teams will be punching their tickets to the Provincials.

In the 4 elimination games:
South Delta vs Port Moody - Should be close, but I think Moody has had their big game already by knocking off Centennial.
Fleetwood vs Maple Ridge - these teams met early in the year and Ridge won by one point. Fleetwood played inspired basketball in their loss to Tammy, but Ridge may be too much for the Dragons.
Enver Creek vs Heritage Woods - these teams also met early in the year and Woods won by 6. Enver barely got past North Surrey and were soundly beaten by N. Delta. Do the Cougs have enough to bounce back?
Princess Margaret vs Abby Collegiate - Don't know much about Abby. PM is an energy team and this one will depend on what they bring to the table.

In the 4 winners go the BC games - take the favorites Pitt over Yale and Grove over N. Delta.
Fox and Mouat should be interesting and I say coin toss the WRC and Tamanawis game.

Fox and Mouat should be interesting and I say coin toss the WRC and Tamanawis game.

Walnut Grove, playing consistent ball now, should be able to slow down North Delta and I do beleive that Fox will gut out a home win over Mouat. Given the alleged coaching issues over at WRCA I would have to take Tamanawis in this game where otherwise I would have favored WRCA to win at home.

Before watching Yale on Friday I would have said that Pitt would have an easy time in thier quarter final but Yale has a lot of guard speed that Pitt will have a tough time matching up with. Iwai and or Blackaby will have his hands full with grade nine sensation Joaquin Bennett-Boire all night. In the end Pitt should prevail but not without coming with their "A" game.

The best part of this game could well be the two coaches, both seasoned old school fixtures who wear their hearts on their sleeves and if Coach Freisen's enthusiasm for the game on Friday night are any indication of what we can expect Monday, the price of admission is justified.

Predictions for tomorrows games:

South Delta over Port Moody - by 10

Pitt over Yale - by 30

Maple ridge over Fleetwood - by 15

Tammy over WRCA by 8

Heritage woods over Enver by 5

PM over Abby by 12

Fox over Mouat by 6

Walnut over ND by 16 - Lots of points will be scored in this game we will need to shoot the lights out which we are capable of but Walnut is deep and lightening quick plus them at home real tough matchup for us

Maple Ridge over Fleetwood by about 4.
Tamanawis over WRCA by about 9. #25 on Tammy had a great game. WRCA looked rattled. Couldn't get anything to drop.

Ridge over Fleetwood by 4 - Fleetwood 2 chances to take the lead with 15 seconds left both shots rim out and PG for Ridge ices it with 2 foul shots, very good game.

Tammy over WRC by 10+ - low scoring game. Manny and Sukjot combine for 8-9 3's. Wrca no answer for the 1-3-1.

PM over Abby
South Delta over Port Moody
Enver over Heritage

That's all I've heard so far.

It took Pitt Meadows 20 minutes to get rolling against a hard working Yale Lions team but in the end Pitt's size, skill and defense was too much as the Marauders, after only leading by eight at the half, cruised to a 91-49 win over the Lions.

Game wrap and pics

http://www.ronhole.com/blog/?p=1823

Friday night may be the best night of basketball in the lower mainland this year as three of the top four seeds, along with Tamanawis, who has been a top four team all year, hit the floor Friday at the Langley Events Centre.

No idea how it will all turn out but the good news is the Valley will be very well represented at the provincials and if there was a bookie who would take my bet I would lay good money that at least one of the teams in the final a couple of weeks from now will be one of the teams playing this Friday.

See you all there!
