Game of the night from yesterday: Yale vs Enver Creek, Yale came back and squeeked out a 2 point win. Envers youthful guards cracked under the pressure. Key performances: Juaqin Bennet Boire (yale) and senior forward Justin Bhangoo (Enver Creek)

Mouat 79 - ND 52

Great game by Wj mouat 5 point game at half time then mouats flexed their muscles inside and Grade 10 stand out cory hauck caught fire with few straight teams both teams played benches majority of 4th quarter look for mouat to make a deep run in the BC's

Yale Lost 77-70 to WRCA

White rock up 16 last few minutes yale hit some late threes cut the deficit to single digits but couldnt get any closer

Saturday 230
ND vs Yale 7/8

Game 39 6:00 pm Pitt Meadows 63 vs Tamanawis 60
Didnt go to the game but score says it was a great one. I honestly didn't expect tammy to get it this close, so judging by the score it looks like any team could have taken it. Unless of course PM was resting its players which i doubt.

Pitt was definately not resting players. In fact hey only went two deep off the bench.

Tammy came out shooting it very well and Pitt struggled to figure out Tammy's zone, if not for some good outside shooting from Iwai and Severinski it would have been a rather lopsided first half. In the second half Pitt began to pull away but only got it to as much as 8-9 and Tammy made it close at the end with a three from Manny with about 10 seconds left but Severinski knocked down his free throws and Pitt held on. Great game from both teams.

Grove dominates Fox . I don't have the exactly score but it was 50-20 at half. Cohee finished with 33 points.

Pitt - Tamanawis.

Was anyones game. Pitt was up 61-60 with about 8 seconds left before Pitt finished it out at 63-60. One of the better played games I have seen in awhile as I thought there was very good coaching on either side of the ball.

Walnut Grove.

Grove started fast and Fox could never get the lid off the bucket and this one was over midway throught the second quarter as the Gators cruised to a 82-64 win.

How many times have Pitt/Grove played this year?? Results??

Safe to assume that the winners of the Valley and LM will be ranked 2 & 3 behind Kelowna.

They have played once - Pitt won. Of note was that Paul getz did not play.

Saw both games last night. A great night for FV basketball! Pitt vs Tammy was an excellent match up between two good teams. Pitt deserved the win with their tough D and clutch free throws but Tammy will surprsie some teams in the Provincials. Grove vs Fox was a different matter. Don't know if Fox was off or if Grove is that good but this one wasn't close. Cohee is an impressive player and will be fun to watch over the next couple of years. Pitt vs Grove will be an excellent game. Look for Pitt to pull it out in a close game. I expect Fox to have a bounce back game and edge Tammy for third. Any other predictions?

PostSubject: Predictions for final day   Sat Mar 03, 2012 3:25 pm

1.Pitt- Expect the same kind of game as last night, but pitt will come out on top.
2.Grove- Will give Pitt all they can handle.
3.Tammy- Gave Pitt all they can handle and will give Fox everything of theirs to, i expect them to win.
4.Fox
5.WJ Mouat- Will beat WRCA easily.
6.WRCA- Team isn't dangerous, they are in the BC's so I look for this young group to play like they dont care tonight.
7.Yale- I believe Yale has maybe 2 basketball players on there roster yet what a fantastic coaching job to put this team in contention for a spot for the BC's. I think they will beat ND who has been a surprise this tournament, they did have a easy road so this matchup will be good, i expect Yales coaching job to get the job done here.

No such thing as an easy road in the valleys SurreyBall.

Yale did take the final spot in a close affair that saw both teams really struggle to score down the stretch. Lots of chances for N Delta to tie, but the ball just wouldn't drop. The Huskies had a great run, but it's tough to go the distance in a game, let alone the valleys with only 5 guys seeing the floor. Coach Karn did a great job to get N. Delta this far, it just looked like they were a bit out of gas down the stretch. Full credit to Yale and coach Friesen as not too many had Yale picked as a valley team going to the BCs.

Great game to watch.

North Delta made a comeback , down by 12, and it was because they were patient and hit open shots. Full credit to coach Friesen as he outcoached the ND coach. In the last 5 minutes, North Delta took a lot of real bad shots. They looked frazzled and hurried. They needed some timeouts from their coach to compose and set up and run the offence. Instead , they just pushed up a lot of 1 on 3 or guys shooting who probably should not have.

Congrats to the wily veteran. He kept his team composed and they hit some open shots at the end to seal the deal !

great game tonight was definetly outcoached but happy with the way my team played with only 2 graduating seniors as sad as we are will be coming out gunning next year and would not want to put us as an easy game on their schedule.

Never has there been more excitement about ND's future!
good luck to all teams in the provincial championship

Coach..your guys battled to the end and deserved a better fate today. Balls were half way down and popping out; it just wasnt meant to be.

Look forward to seeing you guys make steps next year!

One of the most game changing things about our sport has nothing to do with dunks, crossovers, zones or blocks.

It has to do with something that cannot be coached, learned or taught. It is momentum.

And more in particular it is how momentum can change an otherwise perfectly even game. Same players, same coaches, same ball, same everything then suddenly a play hits and a team now has the "Mo".

Well thats what happened tonight. it was early in the 4th, with Pitt up by nine. Pitt had made a few 5-6-7 point runs in the game but Walnut Grove was able to fight back to close up the score. Then with 6:47 to go Pitt hit a play they run once a game. And they nailed it..an alley oop from Iwai to Blackaby.

It extended the lead to 11, and suddenly, instead of Pitt being on a run, Pitt had the "Mo". And they made no mistake once they got it as they put the pedal to the floor to go on to a what looks like on paper, a 20 point win at 75-57.

But it wasnt that at all. It was a back and forth battle for 35 mins, a battle till Pitt got the "Mo" on thier side and were able to come out on top of what was a great week of basketball for the Fraser Valley Organization.

Game wrap below

http://www.ronhole.com/blog/?p=1864

I look forward to the Valley teams being very competitive in the Provincials and with teams as good as Mouat and Terry Fox now coming in as lower seeds look for some upsets of other zones top 1-2 teams.

Good luck and good sport to all.

All four games played yesterday were highly entertaining. Pitt has clearly established themselves as best in the Valley. After that, the next 5 teams are very close.

Tammy played very well against Fox. The 1-3-1 zone is very strong.

About momentum, Mouat was up by 22 over WRCA after 1st half. Three WRCA players had 4 fouls each. Yet, WRCA got to within 3 in the 4th quarter with some great play (defense and shooting). Mouat picked apart the man to man defence in the first half and WRCA made some adjustments and moved to zone in the 2nd half. Great comeback to come within 3 but giving Mouat 22 point lead was a little too much.
