Deep deep field. Typically Th-Sat are the 3 best days of the year for all ball fans, but I think you might have to make it 4 days this year(Wed-Sat). Don't worry if your team is off in the rankings by one or two seeds...the committee has a tough job making sure teams from the same zones don't play each other until Thursday.

Potential Thursday Sked:
1.Kelowna vs. 8.VC
2.Pitt vs. 10.Fox
3.St.George's vs. 6.Tamanawis
4.Walnut Grove vs. Kits/Mouat Winner

Random Thoughts:
-3 great games on Wednesday(Final 4 level games) will be Kits/Mouat, Fox/Oak Bay & St.George's/WRCA
-Kits is ranked a bit high but they have the toughest Wednesday game
-WRCA is ranked 14th(deep field)
-VC is 8 but I think they're they only team to beat the top 3 seeds this year

Yup - I got exactly the same.

Mount Douglas got screwed - never should have had a Tuesday game. They should have been in the 11 spot and Carson received the 13 spot.

Caledonia should have been up to 17 or 18 too. I believe Correlieu and Mount Baker should be in the 19th/20th spots.

If I had ranked it I would have done it as follows (keep in mind that the tournament committee has some BCHSBBA guidelines they MUST follow that makes it tougher to 'seed' a tournament - also take in the fact of avoiding certain 1st or 2nd round match-ups):

1 Kelowna
2 Pitt Meadows
3 St. George's
4 Walnut Grove
5 Kitsilano
6 Tamanawis
7 Vancouver College
8 Oak Bay
9 Terry Fox
10 Belmont

12 WJ Mouat

14 Charles Tupper
15 Carson Graham
16 Yale

With the Provincials starting tomorrow, it's time to get the basketball chatter going. (My apologies to people like Pooch who only want to talk about the hardships that the Independents have to go through).

Yale vs Pt. Grey - The Fraser Valley #7 will represent how deep and strong the Valley is by taking this one over a Pt. Grey team that got on a roll at the right time of the year.
Tupper vs Correlieu - I'll say Tupper because I think they're better and because I can barely say or spell Correlieu.
WRCA vs Mt. Baker - The young guns of WRCA will get the job done here.
Mt. Douglas vs Caledonia - don't know much about either team, but got a feeling Mt. Doug takes this one.

Yale better be ready for Mavety of Point Grey...holy cow that kid can play!
A real treat to watch and definitely one of BC's very best this year.
Not a strong supporting cast, but he can easily go off for 30+.

Just on my way to the LEC as Pitt will have a 30min shoot around this AM. Very excited for this years tournament because I'm thinking any of the top 5-6 teams can take this thing.

The top two seeds, assuming they hold, have to get through teams that have given them trouble.

Kelowna will have to get past Vancouver College on Thursday and then presumably Walnut Grove on Friday; both teams the Owls have lost to during the season. The Owls will also be a true away team living out of a hotel for three or four days while the local teams enjoy thier homes.

I'm going to assume Terry Fox will get by Oak Bay, which means on Thursday Pitt (having to get past Tupper to begin with) will have to beat the Ravens for a third time, never an easy thing to do, especially when the first two games were tight with one going to OT. For the Friday game Pitt will with face St. Georges, who did drop thier previous game to Pitt at the TELUS Classic, but again it was tight to the end, or Tamanawis, who came just three points shy of upsetting Pitt in the Fraser Valleys.

Should be a lot of fun along the way.

For today's games I see

Yale - Point Grey

Tupper - Corrileau

WRCA - Mt. Baker

Mt. Douglas - Caledonia

Hope to see you all there!

I believe that Mount Doug will beat Walnut Grove, they were one of the best off the island, and one bad game put them into 3rd off the island. They will also have a game to get the jitters out against Caledonia.

Here are my predictions:
Yale vs Pt Grey
Tupper vs Correlieu
WRCA vs Mt Baker
Mt Doug vs Cal

WG vs Mt Doug
Oak Bay vs Fox
VC vs Belmont
St G vs WRCA
Kits vs Mouat
Tammy vs Carson
Pitt vs Tupper
Kelowna vs Yale

what are your predictions?

Obvioysly an Island Guy...Sorry to break it to you but unfortunately Mt Doug has probably the worst draw out there and will be difficult to be ready with the early game time..Grove by 15 as for Fox / Oak Bay i would give this one to Fox by 10

I doubt Erikson will be back for VC, as far as I know everyone for Kelowna is ready to play.

Yessir, knew PG would be too much for Yale. Yales best player is in grade 9 compared to Mavety. Seniors got that experience, Yale's not ready yet.

Lots of great action from Langley today. The two lower mainland teams, Yale and Point Grey started off the day with a barn burner and from there, the interior teams, who have really stepped up their games this year, gave the "favourites" all they could handle culminating with just an excellent game between Mt. Douglas and Caledonia.

Any teams moving to the consolation side of the bracket are more than going to have thier hands full of Caledonia and Mt. Baker this year. Lot of writeups and pictures are just going up over at my website.

Going to be a great day tomorrow..

The way I see it shaking down..

WG vs Mt Doug
Oak Bay vs Fox
VC vs Belmont
St G vs WRCA
Kits vs Mouat
Tammy
vs Carson
Pitt vs Tupper
Kelowna vs Point Grey

Lots of close games with only Belmont and Point Grey being well over matched

See you there!

PostSubject: WRCA VS ST GEORGES   Wed Mar 14, 2012 1:31 am

This is going to be a great game. WRCA defeated St Georges earlier this year and I think they are going to beat St Georges again tomorrow. This would end St G’s illegal entry to the BCs. I really feel for grade 12 players at Churchill and Byrne Creek whose dream of playing in BCs was taken away by St G. I hope one day this same thing happen to St G coaches/AD’s kids then they will know how it feels when dreams are taken away from one of their own.

I'm not really a fan of the independents but facts are facts. This year both VC and ST G's are in the top 5 in the province. The provincial tournament is stronger for having St G's as opposed to some teams that were on the bubble. If the experience of playing in an arena is all teams are looking for, then the tournament could just as easily be 24 teams or 32 teams. Hell, make it 64 teams with single game ncaa format.
