It appears that the seeders decided to rank the south as the top zone, with CCh jumping to a 5 seed and Raymond being 9th after having beaten noone outside of the south and where just over .500 there. Check out their results from the Tri Prov where they lost every game against Edmonton competition. Unusual to put BOB ahead of BG when they finished below them in their zone, and put hem on the same side of the draw as Ainlay. Seems like a pretty easy road for Cardston to make the final and get crushed by ainley.

This should be a fun one!

Predictions:

Round 1 winners
HA has a warm-up against Lloyd
PK gets Cardston crowd support to beat Raymond
CCHS fires past BC
BOB rolls over LCI
Cardston barely sweats against GP
Grandin pulls away in the 4th against Strathcona
JP wins the battle against Wisewood
ND crushes their Red Deer namesake

Round 2
HA beats PK again
BOB spanks CCHS
Cardston battles against Grandin
ND takes it to JP

Round 3
HA shows why they are the #1 seed by undressing BOB
Cardston has a great game over ND

Round 4
Cardston hangs around for 3 quarters but HA pulls out the win as the Titans are too much for the Cougars.

Here are my predictions

Ainlay in an easy one over LLoyd
Raymond over Paul Kane. I heard game is going to be played in Raymond.
CCHS squeeks by BC
BOB over LCI in a close one
Cardston for the easy win over GP
Grandin over Strathcona
JP over Wisewood in another close one
ND over Red Deer easily

Round 2
Ainlay easily over Raymond
BOB easily over CCHS
Grandin upsets Cardston
JP beats ND

Round 3
Ainlay in a tough one beats BOB
Grandin spanks JP

Round 4
Ainlay wins in convincing fashion over Grandin.

Is it Poor planning on the seeders part having the number 1 and 2 teams from the entire year play each other in the semi finals by ranking BOB 4th? Who is a legitimate threat to challenge Cardston on the other side?- CCH not a chance, JP not likely, BG without Hedgewood, not likely. BOB should have been placed on the opposite side of the draw as HA and Cardston should have to beat BOB to make the final. I think canuck is pretty accurate in his predictions. I realize that the seeding is done by committee, but am I the only one who thinks this is slanted in favour of the south and maybe this happens each year for the host zone?

Provincials always have upsets but here is my predicitions
1st Round
Ainlay
Paul Kane
CCHS
BOB
Cardston
Strathcona (they will surprise) (depends on injuries)
JP
ND

2nd Round
Ainlay
BOB
Cardston
Jp

3rd Round
Ainlay
JP

Final
Ainlay
JP

If Ainlay plays as they can no one will touch them. HOwever, injuries, foul troubles, cold shooting may cause them problems. Difference between Ainlay and other teams is depth.

Why does Raymond get to play in their own gym for their first game. Home court advantage is huge. All the boys' games are in Cardston. Why not this one?

no different than when it is in Calgary, Edmonton or Red Deer , most city teams play 1 st round game in their own gym.
Why not Raymond??? You were all saying how they have not beat a team out of the south!! So what you all worried about???? Sheash!

You are right southfan, however, Raymond is hostingthe GIRLS provincials not the boys, so why this exception. Yes a host team should get to play the games in thier gym, hence the reason that Cardston is playing at home on the boys side and Raymond is playing at home on the boys side.

The difference is Cardston/Raymond are co-hosts no different if edmonton zone was hosting! You are right that most of the girls games are at Raymond but all of the Championship (boys and girls are in Cardston where they can seat more fans).

Apparently didn't matter as Rick Stanleys Blues spanked the comets by 33.

So far, no upsets - any to come?
