I am a "A" person, so I will leave the AA and AAA rankings to people who follow those divisions more closely, that being said I don't think your AA boys and girls rankings are that far off. I know this is all speculation and guess work, but I am pretty sure I can make a slightly more accurate rankings for A.

A Boys
--------
1. Hartland
2. Harvey
3. Grand Manan
4. Devon Park
5. John Caldwell
6. Campobello
7. Belleisle
8. Dalhousie

A Girls

5. Caledonia

7. Stanley
8. Devon Park

I dont mean to post strictly about A basketball but... the last few post's seem to be overlooking someone in A girls.
Dalhousie lost to RNS in sectionals last year in AA. Not to mention they have one of the top coaches in our province and easily the best in that league. I really cant speak to the talent they have but they will outwork and be better prepared than everybody else. I dont know how a competitive team from AA last year is not a Top 8 team in A this year

It seems that some people who follow the A divsion are a little out of touch when it comes to basketball as a whole in this province.

I Agree with you with Dalhousie and I even wonder why Caledonia is not near or at the top. They only lost one girl and should be a force.

I like your picks, except for John Caldwell being 5th. Their entire starting lineup graduated, plus a couple other bench players.

This is my top 8:
A Boys:
1. Hartland
2. Harvey
3. Grand Manan

I agree that Caledonia should be a force, but they really didn't perform well last year for whatever reason, they were supposed to be a favorite lasy year but didn't even make the semi finals. As far as Dalhousie goes, I only saw them at the John Caldwell tournament where they got beat up on by A schools, didn't really think they were supposed to get that much better this year.

39. Sounds like the Northern Lights were shining bright. But, the closer they got to the West the dimmer they became. I know the lights are bright at JC for sure.

1. FHS-most of the players on that team have only lost a handful of games in four years, some of the kids in gr 11 have never lost a game.
2. KVHS-might beat FHS this season, but FHS is so deep.
3. Moncton High- great guard play, not much in the post
4. BMHS
5-9LHHS, HTHS, JMH and Sussex/SJHS

Lots to talk about here:

In most of the leagues there appears to be 1-2 front runners and everyone else at a level slightly below trying to make up ground.

A Girls is interesting. A healthy Caldwell has to be the front runner, expectations in GM in are always high. Wild cards might be Caledonia and Dalhousie. Cal underachieved last year and lost their coach this summer. Dalhousie moves down from AA (appropriately) an will have as good if not better defense then anyone else in A. Early test will see GM vs Dalhousie in a early season tourney in St. George.

A Boys sounds like two top dogs and everyone else trying to play catchup.

AA Girls - Tantramar the early favorite. After that the AA southwest might have the next strongest 5-6 teams. SHould be a super competitive league. SVHS brings everyone of importance back, but everyone in the league reloads or brings back young talent.

AA Boys - St. Stephen, CNHS out in front of everyone by pretty wide margin.

AAA Girls - FHS's to lose at this point. BMHS and Riverview in dog fight to face em in the finals. KVHS has talent if they can put it all together. SRHS young and good will be tough.

AAA Boys - FHS and KVHS until someone else gets to their level. Moncton with some firepower and lots of building athletic squads: LHHS, HTHS, BMHS, RHS, SHS, SJHS .. .

It looks like A girls in the East is splitting between Tier 1 and 2 (exhibition league). Petti and Cal are the only two teams going Tier 1 which would make it the NE this year. Should sort things out pretty quick between Petti, Cal, Stanley, and Dal. I'm surprised Belleisle is staying up to play with the big girls considering they've register an ExD. team.

Grand Manan has their tournament this weekend. They are hosting Devon Park, Belleisle and Campobello.

Single 'A' must be really weak if Belleisle is ranked in the top 5 and lost to Harvey by 50 at home...

I would think that Grand Manan should have no problem winning their tournament if that is who is going , Harvey , Hartland and Grand Manan should pretty much be at the head of this pack this season....but again it is still early.

The rankings are good for conversation but does not consider the circumstances a team has from one week to the next. Players being away, injured, etc . I hear some teams are healthy whereas some are not. League play under these conditions can change the expectations that people have. Fun to watch and respond to though.

I would say that is fairly accurate ranking based on the scores so far...I'd suggest there is a gap between 2 and 3....and a gap after 5 and the rest, IMO.

I wouldn't even mention Belleisle...they can beat Minto and Chipman...but when they play the big boys..'the Bears' get mauled. Not bashing them...just telling the truth.
