I would agree with many of those top rankings - Ainley will be very solid with a great group of young players (couple provincial players @ u17/u16/u15 level) along with some talented returnees. Spruce Grove will have a very solid starting 5, with a young bench - however with good coaching they will be tough in March. Bev Facey returns all but 1 player which makes them an immediate threat - health of some key players could be a concern. ABJ lost a couple key players but also return very dependable players that have size and some shooting ability. They will be tough. PK will be scrappy and young - but talented. They have a new coach who definitely knows her stuff but will have to adjust (which she will) to the level of basketball and the quality of teams every game.
So top 5 (Metro/Public) - Ainley, SG, BF, ABJ, PK
Next level would include O'Leary - they are always tough the minute they put on the uniform. FX - some solid players returning and got one of the best grade 10's in the province. Scona lost their big last year (Panda VB) and she kept them in a lot of games. JP didn't have a lot in spring league but that is always hard to tell who is playing / whether they're missing players etc.
As for 3A - we return only 3 players (albeit they are quite good), with a very good junior player moving up. After that we are going to be all grade 10's (probably 5 or so) so we will have talent but will also make young mistakes. We hope to be solid in the second half of the season. Edmonton Christian should be solid again this year as they return 8 players and have had a good junior team.
