As asked in another thread, who are the teams to beat next year? Might as well start a thread for it.

You have to assume that SRB and St Matt's are in the mix again as they've been the finals each of the last 2 seasons.

SH is always strong and with Vic and Sean back they should be a top squad.

Hillcrest won junior last season and should be a major player as well.

Any others of note?

St. Pats was so young this year that they have to be seen as a contender even though they will lose Christian. Also, look for Louis Riel to be in the mix as well. How good will St. Petes be next year after not having a senior team this year but having one of the best junior teams? Ashbury will be there somewhere with Jean back again and I also expect Deslauriers to be in the mix for single A.

I forgot about EOM as well, they were all grade 11's this year (at least their best guys were) so they may make some noise as well if they can put it together.

AAA/AAAA
1)Sacred heart
2)Sir Robert Borden
3)St Patrick
4)St Mathews
5)St joesph
6)Hilcrest
7)Earl of March
8)St Peters
9)Bell
10)Lisgar

*dont know if louis riel will play AAA/AAAA but these are the real AAA/AAAA schools. Dramatic change this season. Colonel By has lost all there players and judging by their results from last year and their results this year (0-10) they will be out of the picture as a contender. Bell will be graduating alot of players. Hilcrest did win Juniors but we all know that Sacred heart was the better team and also st pats and Sir robert borden have juniors playing in senior so junior results dont relate to them. St matts grade 11s did prove that they can contend by reaching the city finals which no one thaught was possible. St joes has some returning players. St peters will have to be ranked low because of not having a senior team this year. Lisgar Had a good run this year in junior tier 1 (9-1 season). Overall next year will be a big transition. I have a feeling that Bell will have some 5th year players and they will Be the Next Glebe

I don't think you are giving Hill enough respect. They are loaded with club guys, 2 nice bigs and some strong guard play. I would have them as top 4 with St Matt/SRB/SH

There are rumors about Jamal going to live with his dad next year, if that is the case, he could possibly end up playing for martingrove next year. Even if jamal goes, SRB is still a top 3 team with farhan, phil, and tremaine. With jamal, they are with SH for top spot in the city.

Simple, St. Joes only has emmit next year unless lane returns... Even then thats still not enough compared to what other teams have.

I think Ashbury and St Paul both return the same core guys. I don't think their divisoins will be tough for them unless some older players come back.

I think Lester B, Deslauriers and Louis riel, will be strong in the AA next year.

Congratulations to all the NCSSAA reps and good luck in your respective OFSAA tournamets - Do Ottawa proud!

Good list overall, as for next year, tough to determine who will contend as we're not sure who will be back (anticipating), who may come back for a 5th year, how the top juniors will adjust to senior ball and who will use the summer to improve their game. I think Hillcrest will be the team from what I know they have their whole starting 5 back which is solid at every position. The other top teams would be SRB, St. Pat's, St. Matt's and SH. I've heard Powers injury was fairly serious (anyone confirm?) so depends on re-hab and if he's ready to go by November? All Saints will be a sleeper as they return some key guys - LR will have athletes and will contend if they're playing at AAA/AAAA level. It will be interesting how St. Pete's will do, you have to expect them back next year and be competitive. Bell is questionable without knowing who returns.

Predicting another competitive year of ball next year!

Lisgar in the top 10 is pretty crazy considering they never played a tournament game this season and that their junior squad wasn't even in the top 10. There talent is pretty low. It was one of those rare cases where they played better than expexted

Lisgar Didnt lose 1 game in regular season tier 1 and East division is a pretty good leauge with defending junior champs hilcrest. There Point guard is a natural ballhandler one of the best of seen and still has some years to develop

Lisgar in the quarter finals lost to a 3-5 squad in Ridgemont. That shows that Lisgar got lucky throughout the season therefore, I don't believe that Lisgar will even make the playoffs next year.

I see Ridgemont as one of the top teams in the league next year. Although they will have some good competion, they surely will do some damage.

Ridgemont might be one of the best in the AA division, but not the city.
