Thanks for the draw. I couldn't find it on line.
Looks like a great preview of the coming Provincials.
On the the top of the draw I'd expect SG vs. Cardston in the second round, to be a barn burner. SG has been averaging >80 points a game in league play. I don't know what tournaments they've been in since the Reb in mid December, but I'm sure their confidence level is quite high.

On the bottom of the draw, for round two, I'd bet Raymond gets a third crack at beating O'L. If they do, we might get to see some of that Raymond/Cardston rivalry thats been posted. My money's on O'leary going to the final though.

The Spruce Grove tournament looks to be exciting. I will get to watch lots of Basketball this weekend. YEA FOR ME.........!

I guess it is our (Scona) turn to play David against the big bad Ainley, it should be fun. "Does anyone have a Rock" I figure we will have to score at least 125points to beat them, and since we have never scored that many points, we will be in the same boat as everyone else. So maybe i should ask for a "paddle" hahahahahahahahahaha However, I still can't wait for Tuesday...... Maybe i should get a bunch of shirts that say "David" and bring a "paddle"............

Good luck to the Lords against the Titans !
I usually pull for the underdog, when fighting against such odds.
Hold them to less than 40 point win, you've done well; hold them to less than 30 point win you've done outstanding; and hold them to anything less than a 20 point win and you've embarrassed them.
And expect a full press all the time.

We did not shoot well until the secod half, however we hung in there. The score was HA 72 David aka Scona 53. I think that HA's team is really good and you can not prepare for a team like that at practice. I was happy that we did not back down becasue they had us down 27-10 in the first quarter, and 47 - 22 at half. We made a few adjustment at half, and held them to 11 points in the third quarter while scoring 12 points of our own. This made the the score 34 - 58, and in the last quarter there was nothing to lose they scored 14 points and we scored 19 of our own, and eventhought the Plouffes played the whole second half we did not back down.....Now maybe they did not have a good game (Ainley), or we just did not have nothing to lose, but it was fun...... We did not have any rocks, but we had a few pebbles.....hahahahahahahahaha, Love this Game afro

Sounds like a very exciting game and a great showing by Scona. I've seen HA play in three tournaments (Reb, Rose and Tri-Prov) and they were unrelenting - particularly the final of the Tri-Prov where of course they wanted to win big for the home school crowd. Props to them for what is likely to be a perfect season.

Congrats to the Panthers for a well played final. That big post (#15?) made a huge difference in the second half. SG is playing with alot of confidence, with most players able to put up double digit points. The O'Leary girls they dug deep but didn't have anything left by mid 4th quarter. Three high calibre tournaments (Rose, Tri-Prov & this one) in these last three weekends is a lot to ask.
4 more league games, playoffs and provincials yet to go. Lots of Bball left :-)

I (Scona's coach) also got a chance to see this tournament and the teams in the it are all playing at the top of their game. You can really see the time these coaches are putting into their programs. Good luck to everyone the rest of the way. afro

No doubt about it - the coaches put in a lot of effort and truly have dedication to the players and passion for the game

Harry Ainlay has now beaten the last 2 number 2 ranked teams( Oleary/SG) by 50 and 40 points. Has there ever been such a dominant team in AB in the past 10 years?

True that Ainlay is dominant this year. They have 5 stong seniors anchored by the twin towers, who have geat talent and had about the best coaching possible last year. They also have some quick, talented juniors like Fairbanks. No doubt they've the talent and depth to earn/deserve their record this year.

I guess only those who have been watching/coaching 4A for the last 10 years can really say if they're that exceptional.

However, I don't think that beating O'Leary or SG this year earns them the honour of being the team of the decade.
In the 3 games they've beaten O'L, its been by 19(Reb), 34 (Rose) & 46 (TriProv). In the the Tri-Prov, they were so motivated to win, I don't think any team in Edmonton or Alberta stood a chance. They played an amazing game that would have been painful for any opponent. That said, O'Leary has one (strong) senior, 7 juniors and 3 rookies. This is a building year. HA beating them doesn't make Ainlay the team of the decade

I didn't see the HA/SG game - I'm guessing HA won the Feb 18 game by 40.
From what I have seen though, SG's strength is the ability of most players to contribute on the score board. They won their tournament last weekend on the depth of their bench, not on the strength of two or three players. They'll be strong in provincials and next year, despite losing ~5 seniors.

St. Mary's tournament provided an interesting interpretation of the recent 4A Girls rankings.

Not only did Scona defeat Spruce Grove and Cardston.
St. Mary's rebounded from their last weekend to win their own tournament.
Scarlett defeated Cardston and Cardston got by Ross Shep.

Was there another tournament in Calgary with St. Francis and LCI?
Does anyone know the results?
