I think the final four will be Raymond, HA, Cardston and St. Mary's with HA and St. Mart's in the Final Ha winning by 20...... Any team i have seen play Ainley has been scared......I think the teams in the south will not be as scared which mean the games will be closer, but Ainley will still win it all.

Cardston Tournament
Top of Draw

Magrath vs St. Mary's 3:45
Immanuel Christian vs. Cardston 7:15

Bottom of Draw
Raymond vs. St. Francis 5:30
Harry Ainlay vs. LCI 9:00

Looks like a tough draw that will sort out how the south fares vs. Calgary teams and if anyone can seriously challenge Ainlay!

PostSubject: Holiday break tournament results?   Fri Jan 08, 2010 10:41 am

The O'Leary girls traveled to Anaheim CA and played in the Savanna Rebels Classic, winning the consolation final.
I don't know much about the teams they played but I do know the results.
They lost their first game 43 - 48 Boxing day evening after travelling all day. Too bad it wasn't a direct flight. They went on to win the next three games 55-22, 56-36 and 59-45.
Apparently the quarters were only 8 minutes, the possession was 30 seconds. Theres also no 8 second rule so teams would run around the back court as long as needed to get the ball into the offensive zone.

Anyone have results from other Alberta teams playing in tournaments over the holiday break?

-Gus

We are looking forward to St. Mary's tournament - we are definitely the "little kids on the block" in both a physical and enrolment sense Smile Other than Harry Ainley, I have seen a lot of parity across the board in the Edmonton premier leagues - both the Metro and Public leagues. I do believe that Oleary is the team to beat in our league yet I'm not sure they have the horses to come close to HA. Oleary's big advantage is their youth - they are only getting better with largely grade 11's.. they will be scary good next year as well. I can hardly wait to actually see in person a number of quality 4A schools in Calgary since as an Edmonton team (St. Albert) we rarely see the top teams up here. We do have Centennial in our tournament along with Scona so that is a potential match-up for the final... Time will tell. Thanks for all the posts.

The St. Marys tournament is going to be an awesome tournament. However, do not think for a second that St. Albert is not the real deal because they are loaded with talent.....Edmonton is a tough league but only becasue there are teams like St. Albert high, O'leary, AJB, Facey, HA, Spruce Grove, JP, and Scona, Edmonton Christain who gave us a run yesterday....I thought last year was tough, but this year will prove to be tougher and i am looking forward to seeing how it plays out......

I received the draw for the JPP tournament and it looks like SACHS will steam roll through that with very little resistance. Jdeeds will you get a chance to see Springbank at all before Provincials? They do not seem to be playing in any of these high profile tournaments. It seems to be predominantly the same 12-15 teams in these tournaments. I am still baffled by Springbank receiving a higher ranking than SACHS, I am assuming with your resume that you will move to the number 1 spot in the next rankings.

I hear the games in Raymond on the weekend were pretty exciting, with Raymond defeating Cardston in all 3 matchuups. The girls game was a foul filled affair which had 8 girls fouled out, 4 from each team. I haven't seen the paper for the final scores but I guess it was a wild night for the nearly 1000 fans that were there.
