From what I've seen/heard I think the Vancouver city race will come down to:
Kits (probably the favorite as I believe their Juvenile team won last year)
King George
Killarney
John Oliver
Britannia?

Outside of Kits, I'm not too sure how any of the teams would fare from a provincials standpoint.

Churchill's grade 10s will be playing up this year from what I've been told.

Certainly Kits will be right there.... VC & STG are decent and possibly Churchill.....
what about the rest of the areas in BC?

Kits is the sure fire favorite to win the Jrs this yr, even with talented grade 10's Kenya Gerald (much improved over the summer a top tier talent for 2016, keep your eye out will be a force for the years to come) and Howard Wang playing for the Sr squad.
Kelowna is getting the talented crop of kids who made up the dominant Dr Knox 9th grade team from last season which had the talented scorers Parker Simpson and Matt Lafontaine not sure if either or both or the other Knox players are playing Jr or Sr though.
Very hard to gauge the Jr landscape as more and more every year the top tier 10th graders are playing up on Sr teams and with both 9th grade and Jr teams hard to tell who will play where.

I believe TerryFox is going to win it at the junior level this year mainly because of all the new people who transffered.
Colton Cooke who came to fox from riverside is a beast on the perimeter and in the paint. He can grab the rim

Terry Fox has some really nice pieces. Top 5 in the Province for sure. Fox very talented at the 9, 10 and 11 levels. Nobody playing above their grade level.

Holy Cross +20 over Heritage Woods
Holy Cross' Marcus Browne (Gr.9)  was dominant in the paint, a 6'3 versatile wing who can bully players on the inside, and breakdown defenders off the dribbble to finish or dish, a strong presence on both ends of the floor, finished with 27 pts 10 reb 4 ast 2 stl 2 blk

Out of Richmond, McMath and Palmer are two teams to look out for, McMath having beat John Oliver substantially in exhibition, Palmer beating McMath by 6.

I've seen the following Fraser Valley teams play:
Guildford Park
Holy Cross
Earl Marriott
Sullivan Heights
Elgin Park
Panorama Ridge
Princess Margaret
Tamanawis
Delview
Southridge
North Delta
LA Matheson
Elgin Park
Lord Tweedsmuir

The clear top 2 teams from that list are Tamanawis and Panorama Ridge. I think most of Tammy's team are Athelite players and thus play together in spring/summer circuit whereas Panorama is really just a big team with lots of length and a really athletic player (no clue what his name is) that forces a lot of turnovers.

Comparing the Surrey teams to Vancouver you see quite a discrepancy in height - I'd say every Surrey team I've seen has at least 2+ 6'4+ players. Either that or East Vancouver players are just too short.

PostSubject: Pat Dooley Tournament   Sun Dec 08, 2013 12:15 pm

Finals were interesting with Tamanawis dominating the first half with a 20 point lead. Panorama Ridge came back strongly and cut the lead to just 5 points with Tammy winning the finals. Both team are good and on any given night anybody can take the win.
Panorama Ridge SG Devon Dhillon played good.
Tamanawis is a strong team with club players Aminder Basra, Sahil Dhami, Garry Sahota, Randy Johal and Sagar Dulay . However I saw a two players being extremely selfish by playing between themselves and not playing as a team throughout the tournament. This can be very dangerous for this team. The coaches should keep an eye out for this behavior.

I have no clue on this just a wild guess, I've seen a few teams and just putting this out there, I know Coach Sharda will have his ranking before the end of the year, Any thoughts? I did not include Interior or Island teams as I have no clue as to the make-up of any of those teams.

Projected Jr. Boys Rankings

1. Tamanawis
2. RC Palmer
3. Terry Fox
4. Kitsilano
5. Panorama Ridge
6. Killarney
7. McMath
8. Delta
9. Holy Cross
10. STM

Thanks for throwing us in there but we have opted out of being included in the rankings.

My understanding is Kits won't be as strong as some may think b/c apparently their grade 9s are playing the Juvenile level, and their strong 10s have moved up? Either way, looking forward to playing them in-season and hopefully STM if we both get by the first round of the Southridge tournament this week.

How about other surrey teams like La matheson for example who lead tamanawis by 14 at one point in the rcmp quarter finals and lost by only 2 points and almost won at the buzzer, really strong point guard and dominating center

I saw LA Matheson play Tammy in the RCMP, they looked quite good against Tammy, moving the ball well in Tammys 1-3-1.. but came up just short at the end. LAM do have a 1-2 punch (#3 and #5) but could use more help from the bench.

I have seen a lot of Fraser Valley games this year and out of Surrey...Teams that looked impressive to me and  have been playing really good ball lately are Tammy, Lord Tweedsmuir, Holy Cross, Sullivan, North Surrey, LAM and PR (any particular order).

Tammy - (Top team in the province, Basra & Dulay leading the way, easily clinched 1st in their league)
LT - (Run and gun offence, Good mix of shooters and aggressive players who go to the rack, LT WORKS.. tend to do 5 man line changes)
Holy Cross - (Finished undefeated in their league, permitter can shoot lights out if not guarded, key on #9 & #5)
Sullivan - (Finished 2nd behind Holy Cross in league, Run the floor really well and have potential to make some noise)
North Surrey - (Good mix of players who can be aggressive in the paint and also get to the rack)
LAM - (1-2 Punch with guard and big, lost to Holy Cross by 6, Sullivan by 3 and Tammy by 2)
PR - (Run effective 1-3-1 half court trap, PG is smooth, have some tall players and get to the rack well)

In our first round provincials matchup Cowichan played Killarney and they took us to a tight game with their versatile shooting, eventually ending up winning we were all surprised to find that the players that truly made an impact were all gr9s haven't seen a lot of the other talent but wow I can't picture the cougars as anything less then a threat
