1. Fredericton - No reason to move but still not dominating the way you would like.

2. Sussex - Really need to see them against some of these top teams.

3. KV - No very deep but still very talented.

4. LHHS - No news no move.

5. WHS - Keep playing FHS tough. Mathcup problems? or are they better than this ranking?

6. Riverview - Probably better than this. Handling buisness in conference and out.

7. James M Hill - Still tough be need some more tests as evidence.

8. MVHS - Big wins including a league win over BMHS.

9. Rothesay- Hard to tell where they fit. They've got players and talent to be harder, but depth over the course of thes season is going to be a huge issue. Their best five can play with anyone, but they can't play their best five for 40 minutes every night for the next 3 monthes.

10. BMHS - Not dropping them out of the top 10 but need to right the ship. They aren't in trouble be keep losing winnable games.

Next 5 (no particular order): CNHS, John Caldwell, Saint John High, Fundy, Tantramar

1) Fredericton - Finally got to see them vs SRHS and it lived up to the hype. Black Kats adjust and continue to win if not pretty.

2) Sussex - Proved why they are a legitimate contender. Traded shots with #1 and proved they belong.

3) KV - AAA is a long season so we'll see how a lack of depth hurts/helps but overall its been a strong campaign so far. They've beaten FHS handily which is more then most teams can say.

4) Riverview - Too many consistent performances to count them any lower at this point. Lots of big wins building a resume. Should have a real shot at hosting a sectional. Which helps their Harbour Station bid.

5) LHHS - Solid wins and a team that grinds. Need to consistently find ways to score enough against some of the top teams.

6) WHS - Who are u? Playing tough schedule for sure but scores of games seem inconsistent. Lack of depth may be becoming an issue with injuries and a grind of schedule so far.

7) MVHS - Solid Performances is league play and early on but need more to back this up over the long haul.

Cool BMHS - Seem to be in a lot of great games but struggle to win ones that matter to get them over the top. WIll be there in the end but need to do more on a consistent basis to be a top level team.

9) James M HIll - Didn't do anything to deserve to be dropped but absence from scores and games lately just gives other teams a chance to show their quality.

10) Rothesay - Tough to not give this spot up to JCS after winning the Valhalla and upsetting Woodstock. RHS though hasn't done anything to show they don't deserve to be here yet so dropping them for only losing games to top teams on the list doesn't seem right.

Next 5 - JCS clearly 11 maybe even better, then in no order - SJHS, Fundy, Caledonia, Tantramar

I think the Rick Cotter Classic people are avid readers of the Ladies Top Ten as they just revised their schedule with one change .Riverview has been bumped out of the Pool with FHS and BMHS has been added. I'm sure BMHS will be excited for the challenge.

59-58 FHS over Sussex, both teams ran a track meet, both have depth and both have size although Sussex size is young it held up; all things considered FHS still #1 and Sussex #2- long range Sussex will be very good next 2-3 yrs

1. Fredericton - Dealing with injuries and absences still winning the games they are supposed to win. Grinding and holding on.

2. Sussex - Still playing the champs tough. Great young squad that gets better everytime out. Deep with perimeter play needs to generate more offense 5 on 5.

3. KV - Beating teams they are supposed to beat. Next time they meet one of these two might be the first real chance they get to move themselves up.

4. Riverview - Lots of talent. Inconsistency is an issue but of the remaining teams have the most wins against top 10 teams.

5. LHHS - Just keeping on. Will be there in Feb.

6. WHS - Might not be this good, might be better. No more recent evidence to move them,

7. Rothesay - Getting healthier and hanging around with top 10 teams. Probably aren't this high but definitely feel like on paper they are right now better then some of the teams I'm moving them past.

8. MVHS - League win vs BMHS is last big game. Need to do some more.

9. BMHS - Definitely better then this ranking, but they need to beat some more people ahead of the them and are behind MVHS in their conference so its hard to move them up just yet.

10. James M. Hill - Clinging to this spot in a world of what have you done lately. Have talent but need to play some top teams.

NExt 5 - Caldwell, SJHS, Tantramar, SVHS, Caledonia

Cotter classic results
KVHS girls 3-0
FHS girls 3-0
FHS named tournament champs. Things that make you go hmmm. Was there no gym space in all of Fredericton to play a tournament final game at 5pm? Or perhaps a more equitable decision would have been to have co-winners? Award KV girls their swag after their 11am win and do a presentation to Fredericton girls after their win in the 1 pm game and present them with their swag at a later date. When you invite someone to your party and you don't have enough prizes you make sure the guest leaves happy. I expect coach cotter would not have made this decision if he had been asked for some input. Too bad.

KV played well FHS played well;challenge is not only gyms its referees, table official and recognizing that both teams had already played today, did not seem to be any complaints from KV side here is the standard for decision making

" Ties are broken according to the NBIAA tie-break formula, which favours the scoring/defence ratios of teams."

NBIAA is still the umbrella organization

Or you could have a final.

Not sure I agree with the criticism of cotter classic tournament officials decision vis a vis tournament championship...it is their tournament , they did a great job of organizing , a truly first class event. They did not ask for or even want the forecasted weather , and put player safety first in cancelling the last day. A decision that surely cost the host team some much needed revenues. All teams got three games vs top notch competition.
Both their teams ( men's and women's) are top level teams and would have been contenders for the championship.
The dedication ceremony was a class act for a very deserving coach. It was great to be part of it.
If they keep the "swag" for themselves , good for them. They did all the work....

Besides if getting swag is the goal , remember the old adage " don't measure success by what you get for it but by what you become because of it "

The high road is to claim co-winners or not award tournament winners at all. Four teams went 3-0. Point spread in this situation is bogus since teams didn't play each other.

In order:

1) There is a formula for breaking ties. There was a tie.

2) I think everyone is overlooking the most important thing here. FHS not playing KVHS is a huge loss to potential top 10 list changes this week. Doesn't everyone know drama and discussion on this board is the priority in decision making . . . oh wait . . . never mind . . .

I agree red the "right" thing to do woud have been to have co-winners. No real surprise the wy it was done though.
