Does anyone know who the best 3A boys teams are going to be this year? Opinions/thoughts?

How they finished last year doesn't necessarily represent this year but some of the strong programs that have been there year after year will still be there this year. After that this guess is about declarations, returning players and SOS.

Preseason Guess:
1. George McDougall (two 6'8" bigs again this year? will be tough to compete with)
2. Canmore (a young team last year, top players are very strong)
3. Leduc (a young team last year and have many key returning players)
4. Cochrane (strong program, 2nd at provincials, many returnees)
5. Chestermere (strong program, 3rd at provincials, many returnees)
6. Edmonton Christian (won provincials and bring back key pieces but will miss the big)
7. Winston Churchill (2014 provincials host and I assume they get to drop down to declare 3A, top talent very strong, weaker JV team coming up)
8. WR Myers (many key returning players, 4th at provincials, they will miss Tom and Connor, weak JV team)
9. St. Albert (a strong program year after year)
10. Fort McMurray (5th at provincials)

HM Westaskwin, Highwood, Holy Trinity ED, Holy Trinity OK

Its possible some of those teams, like Leduc Composite, may be 4A this year due to student populations being over 800.

Teams that shouldn't be overlooked:
Olds
Springbank
St Joes
Crescent Heights
McCoy
Louis St. Laurent
Ardrossan

If you are referring to St. Joseph Collegiate in Brooks, they're 2A. If Leduc is indeed 4A that will change things although I've heard they had some injuries that could have an impact anyway.

McCoy and Crescent Heights didn't have enough underclassmen contributing on the varsity teams last year and didn't have really strong JV programs. They may sneak in to the top 10 at the semester break if they get some big early wins. WR Myers will dominate that Medicine Hat league but WC will take the South in a walk this year.

Olds would be a surprise. Springbank has had some very strong teams in the past although they haven't come out of the south central since a provincial silver in 2009. I don't know anything about Louis St. Laurent or Ardrossan.
