I hear that there will be 14 teams in Division I. Thoughts?
Will the usual suspects dominate? Any new kids on the block that may surprise?

I really like that Edmonton has finally gone to one 4A division. What an easier time the rankers will have as the top teams will actually play each other regularly. I think you will find that the calibre of basketball will improve as well.

My sources have Ainlay #1 and O'Leary #2 (very close). Who does Scona have to be considered so high.

Scona was competitive last year at the Senior level and they started 2 grade 10's. In addition they had the best Junior team in either Public or Metro last year.

Ainlay returns 3 starters

Oleary returns 3 starters

Both those teams were edmonton provincial reps for 4a

Also edm Christian returns 4 starters

Facey returns 4 starters

All those teams did better than scona last year and have more returning

I have scona around 4-6

1 or 2 ainlay and oleary - could be either
3 and 4 edm c an facey either order
5-8 FX scona Jp shep

Any order

Edmonton Christian returns 3 starters and only 2 impact players. Ainlay JVs questionable. Facey brings back 4 and were dominant in JV. Metro should be the power in the new combined league.

1. Bev Facey
2. Archbishop O'Leary
3. Strathcona
4. Harry Ainlay
5. St. Francis Xavier
6. Jasper Place
7. Ross Shepard
8. Edmonton Christian

PostSubject: Numbers???   Mon Oct 28, 2013 1:00 am

Hey steamrolled about your numbers.......
Ainlay may have 3 starters back but they only had 3 grade 12's so they will be dominant.
O'Leary may have 3 starters back but their young beach played lots. Good Jr team.
Christian may have 4 back...not sure but those kids can play.....great Jr team.
Facey can't have 4 starters back and they had 7 grads. Great Jr team.
Scona will be tough as those two 10's are Prov players some other returners and a great junior team.
Shep will surprise as Youngs will be driven and that lefty is awesome.....an interesting attitude but awesome skills. Good Jr team.
St FX always muck....and they had a great Jr team.
JP can't be forgotten are you kidding........some size...great leadership from Darian. Solid Jr team.

Hey For Three.......two old Metro schools as #1 and #2....really??

This will be fun to watch-no doubt!

Yes old and grey I agree with those statements on those teams

Ainlay only lost 3 players and really 1 played signifact minutes

Oleary really only lost 2 guys that played

Combine that with ainlay and oleay going to provicials will be big for those teams in tough games with experience

Scona facey shep FX edm c are all very good teams with good players and coaching and can beat those 2

I am really interested to see how a few key players do this year

1) Abdul from shep
Will be needed to carry that team
He has grown lots bball wise and wil be a force

2) curry from ol from what I hear is really playing above the rim now
Will be tough to reckon with along with that big 15 post

3) Dorian Jp

Will be needed in a large way as I heard the team lost a few players

If the rumors I heard are true about shep
Oleary and Jp losing their best players then that will destroy those teams chances

Teams that would have been in the 6-10 range like
Lazerte McNally page sturgeon

Might beat an vault themselves over shep oleary and Jp now

What are the rumours about Shep?
Why would O'Leary and Jasper Place lose their best players?
Please explain.

So how do these player changes affect the Edmonton rankings? Does O'Leary drop a bit?

St. George's from Vancouver is playing Edmonton Christian tomorrow at the REB. If they win, they play Edmonton O'Leary. Can anyone tell me anything about these two teams? Thanks

St. George's is 2-2 in exhibition play in Vancouver. They lost a close game to Walnut Grove, #2 in BC and #8 Churchill by a wide margin. It's a good team that lost 3 of its best players from the BC #3 team last year. They are honourable mention top 10 in BC, but if they challenge for a title it won't be until year-end.

havent seen either in action this year but i do know that

Edmonton Christian lost to Harry Ainlay by a big margin - but alot of team will to ainlay this year (anywhere in Canada)

Oleary - you will need to have athletic guys to keep up with them - as I hear they like to play very fast
