Anyone who has browsed the NBIAA site and looks for a basketball game to go watch, will walk away frustrated. Most teams do not post their schedule on the site. If they do the site does not sort them by date properly. In addition you need to look through them team by team instead of a simple calendar that shows you everything that is going on.

In this age of Twitter, smartphones everywhere and cheap web sites that will host league schedules, results and stats, we must be able to do better?

So instead of complaining, I ask the forum members can we do better. Is there a demand for these scores to get enough views to attract a couple web sponsors to cover the cost? Pay a team manager at each school a small honorarium to post schedules and results. I know someone had a a decent web site a few years ago, but it seems to be no longer maintained (http://www.basketballnb.com/).

Thoughts and feedback?

Creating the web site is the easy part. It's managing the content that is the difficult part of the problem. In my experience it is nearly impossible to get coaches to report their scores and to keep their online schedules up-to-date. If the NBIAA wants to make this a priority (I don't think they do) then there has to be consequences for schools that do not.

For example, a NBIAA basketball game would not be considered sanctioned unless it was properly reported to the NBIAA (i.e. entered on the web site). Then have NBAABO only do their assignments based on the online schedules. It wouldn't take coaches and/or AD's long to start maintaining their schedules (or getting team managers to do it) if they were not properly insured and didn't have refs.

Once the content on the site is useful more people will visit making the site more attractive to sponsors. This will generate revenue to pay an IT person/firm to keep the site running and to make the site more usable.

The http://www.basketballnb.com website is mine and to be honest as much as I enjoyed it, I spent way too much time chasing scores. I'd happily provide access to anyone that wanted to update scores.
