Is this official ?

Few surprises for me

Western might be too low for my liking

Also why is Francis so high ?

From those top teams what do they all have ?

Pretty close to what I have been saying but I'm confused by St. Marys and St. Francis. Marys does have a couple of good club players but not good enough to be ranked 3rd.

Rankings are from preseason tourney at www.calgarybasketballclassic.ca. BOB a surprise at #2 losing most of their key guys but they have great coaching staff so credit for that. st Mary's and st Francis seem a bit high with Ernest Manning and Western a good bet to do better than their ranking. I'm told Lacombe and Scarlett are dark horses that could upset the rankings. Should be a very competitive year in Calgary hoops. Should be some good early indications with this pre season tourney plus Manning and St Mary's both up at the REB tourney in mid-December that also has Ainlay, JP and OLeary. Too bad no south teams at that one.

I've heard St Mary's will be very solid and it sounds like Earnest Manning and Father Lacombe could be under ranked but something has to give somewhere. Perhaps the play of St Francis will determine how that goes.

so Churchill beat O'Byrne (and easily to top it off) and they are ranked lower?

they also gave Oleary the toughest game - only losing by 5

i know a loss is a loss - but really?

What a mess this is going to be to figure out early season rankings now. No Calgary basketball tournament this week means some teams will barely play before the rankings come out. Tough to get a picture of the top Calgary teams. Any idea on tournaments next weekend where we will see top teams from the province battle it out? Any Calgary teams going to REB up in Edmonton?

I wasn't aware that they had cancelled the Calgary Classic opening tourney. The weather can't be that bad. City wimps! This will make the initial seeding in Calgary very hard but I'm sure you will see BOB up there in the provincial top five. Even as an outsider i was confused by the new rankings posted here for that tournament. Who is in charge of these rankings?

Terry Dolan, Paul Gagnon, Lawrence King, Mike McFarland, Joe Petrone, Leighsa Burmaster, Wayne Thomas and Kevin Johnston are the committee but I'd venture a guess at saying you're probably looking at Terry, Mike, Joe and Kevin so Grandin, BOB, E. P. Scarlett and St Marys.

That is VERY interesting. I've always wondered why BOB and Grandin were over-ranked each and every year. I think I have the answer!

Speaking of rankings. On those new rankings how is BOB #4 and SWC #6? Didn't SWC beat BOB in the first round of the District 4 tournament?
