Interesting setup to the tournament. So Grove and HC start off the tournament with a bye to the quarter finals right away, then the winners of the first round games of Gleneagle/Kits and Fox/Kelowna get a bye straight to the semis. This would mean that Yale, VC, Mouat, and South are the only teams that, to win the tournament, have to win 4 games?

Fox is known for stacking the deck in their favour each year in the Beagle. Their tournament, their rules.

I would hardly call Kelowna an easy competitor for Fox

pretty tough to stack the deck when your tournament is loaded with all the top teams in the province… which we have almost every year….

I have too agree that having KSS as opening team could be questionable. But understandable.

I have been travelling most of December and have not seen any games yet this year. I was surprised Gleneagle thrashed Kits, is Gleneagle that strong this year? I was going to watch the first semi final tonight, hoping to see Grove play, but I think I will stay for both. Looks like there will be 2 good games tomorrow night.

Gleneagle definately has a very strong starting 5....Their losses Holy Cross in OT and Sardis by 3 were without a couple of players. The only team they have struggled with is Walnut. However they have beaten them in the past.... Should be a very good game tonight.

AAAA provincials are going to be excellent this year with so many strong teams that on any given night could come out on top.

Shout out to Yale who are doing surprisingly well

The Walnut Grove vs Gleneagle game was absolutely fantastic! Jaden Cohee had 47pts in a losing effort but Gleneagle just played great team basketball

Holy Cross vs Terry Fox was a very chippy game. But exciting none the less. A lot of tension on the court

Gleneagle beat Holy Cross 59-52 in an interesting final.

Jon Kongbo left the team at half - nobody knows why.

Stanley Maduabueke was not with HC for the tournament - personally, not sure why.

Taylor Browne had some foul issues and didn't provide nearly as much as he could have. With JBB out there, TB is vital since he's one of few shooters on the squad.

HC bigs missed a lot of easy buckets within 3-4 feet of the hoop - had they made them I think they easily would have been up 8-10 the entire game.

Grant Gailbrath, Brenden Bailey and Tarik Scott came up huge down the stretch for the Talons. Gailbrath really did a bit of everything..had a double-double and key buckets in the last few minutes.

All told, great game. Great tournament.

Gleneagle's an interesting team to say the least.

Interesting? Very good.. Yes....your game summary really makes little sense... Any team will be in the game or have the lead if they make shots.... What a ridiculous comment.... Give credit where it is deserved.... Again most of the top teams in AAAA RIGHT NOW.... Gleneage showed they are perhaps the best right now

Holy Cross was in the 50's before OT against Fox.... the bottom line is the score board and converting chances.... Whether from two feet or twenty... And no doubt missing the other twin is a factor.... But .... .. Against the best teams... When they get to the Valleys and maybe the BC's.... If you can't execute sets in the half court.... Which right now they struggle with a lot.... You can't beat the best teams...

I think you misunderstood what I meant by interesting. I wasn't taking anything away from Gleneagle's win..after allowing a good number of offensive rebounds in the first half, they did a much better job in the second half. From what I've watched so far they must have the best starting 5 (+ Bailey) in the province. But tell me why Cordell Parker is so timid out there? I understand he's the starting point guard, but he can shoot the ball and only shot 1 three by my count. What I'm saying is, if the players are allowed to deviate a bit from their sets (in what I'VE seen thus far, they're not supposed to), who knows what kind of damage this team can do. Their coach gets on them for shooting the ball (I guess they're not supposed to?) - is that the right thing?

For Holy Cross: Do you not think at 6'5"-6'7" Maduabueke, Kongbo and Bright should have been making more than what they actually did, especially in that first half? That's what I was referring to. They missed a bunch of second chance shots from right under the hoop. The game's over, but I would have loved to have seen Holy Cross w/ Stan Maduabueke and Kongbo (for the full game).

Again, it was a great a tournament.

Edit: I had deleted my original post b/c I didn't realize I called Gleneagle "interesting"

Awesome tournament! It's easy to see why Terry Fox has success in everything they do... They're involved.

Like to give the second teamers a mention as well...

Martin Bogajeve... South
Jaz Gill... Yale
Bryce Derton ... Grove
Jermaine Haley... South
Henry M... Holy Cross

The Terry Fox award was given to Taylor Smith from Burnaby South.

Great job!
