What teams and players are doing well. Who are the favorites to make the bc's. I know that Abby Sr, STM, Tupper, Fleetwood are ranked high. Any thoughts?

They recently finished 10th out of the 11 teams in the delta kushnir tournament with STM and McMath 2 other ranked teams finishing ahead. That being said they are still a top team in the AAA Fraser valley. My valley top 8 1. Abby Sr 2. Fleetwood 3. North Delta 4. Robert Bateman 5. Princess Margaret 6. Charles Best 7. Sullivan Heights 8. Langley Secondary

Below are the current FV AAA Standings. They may not be up to date but it gives you an idea of where all the teams in the valley stand. Bateman/Abbotsford and Fleetwood/North Delta will be huge games to decide who wins each league from the looks of it. Mission is 3-0 but according to stats on the bc highschool boys site they lost to Bateman 75-33 in an exhibition game so I dont think they'll beat the top 2. And Princess Margaret will also be in tough against Fleetwood and have already lost to North Delta.

FV EAST
Robert Bateman 4-0
Abbotsford 3-0
Mission 3-0
Langley 3-2
Brookswood 2-1
SRT 1-1
Rick Hansen 1-3
Maple Ridge 0-2
Mountain 0-4
Westview 0-4

FV WEST
Fleetwood 4-0
North Delta 4-0
Princess Margaret 3-1
Sullivan Heights 2-1
Charles Best 2-2
Guildford Park 0-3
Frank Hurt 0-3
Clayton Heights 0-4

Does anyone know how the frasers will work this year? 16 team tournament? League playoffs first is straight to the valleys?

FV is Abby to lose. I was told it would be a 16 teams FV and top 4 go to BC but then I was also told only 6 out of 8 teams from our side would make it to FV so I'm not too sure.

I do think top 3 should be Fleetwood,Abby and ND in no particular order and the last spot is anybody's game. But keep in mind teams in AAA are so equivalent this year that any team could win on any given night so don't be surprise one of the top team loses in the playoffs or FV early.

I agree. If I were to predict based on their seasons so far I would say Abby is the favourite and ND/Fleetwood are not too far behind. #4 is gonna be dogfight and the team that is on a roll come playoffs will get in.

It's curious that Vernon defeated North Delta at the Delta Kushnir tournament, a team that used to be #1 and was #4 when Vernon beat them, but didn't even move into HM in the Jan 29 rankings...

I agree rankings in AAA haven't changed much usually the same teams every week. ND isn't deep enough to be a top team IMO.

Well after this week the AAA rankings should have some changes with the Mcmath tournament but to be honest the AAA rankings don't mean much at all..teams are just too equal so it's really not a surprise to see an unranked team beat a top rank team. In AAA the team that will play the most consistent will win it all, might not be the best team but that is how this season is shaping up.

I do agree that Vernon should have been HM for beating a top 5 AAA team. It has been interesting to see some of the teams stick around that are in the rankings or have been HM. For example I have heard very little (or nothing) about Mark Isfeld, Wellington, Charles Hayes or Nanaimo District. Just because there is little info does not mean these teams are not deserving or not good. Maybe I am not looking in the right place. But it would be nice to know a little more on what accomplishments have put them in the rankings or have kept them there for a major part of the season.

According to the bcboysbasketball site Abby lost to Mouat by 1 recently and Holy Cross by 8 in December…that is pretty impressive.

Who else have they played this year? Cannot find many scores on bcboysbasketball website.

EDIT: As reported on here, I also see that in November they lost to Mouat by 28 and beat North Surrey by 6; in December, they lost to Walnut Grove by 19; and, in January, they lost to St. George's by 3 and Sardis by 15.

Yeah they could have been a top 15 4A team. The rest of the valley is shakey for sure, makes for an interesting playoffs.

Royce Sargeant is one of the best AAA players I have seen this year. One of the best players I have seen this year, period. So strong with the ball and so quick. Gets to the bucket at will.

EDIT: spelled Sargeant incorrectly

Scores from last night's games on the bcboysbball site:

Robert Bateman 84 Langley 48
Abbotsford 76 Maple Ridge 62
Fleetwood 78 Charles Best 57

Tuesday night is going to have big implications as to who hosts league and fraser valley playoff games as the 4 undefeated FV teams square off for the regular season league title.

Robert Bateman @ Abbotsford
Bateman has been playing really well as of late. But it's going to very hard for them to go into the Pit and beat the #1 AAA team in the province. Abbotsford is athletic and can shoot the lights out in that gym. Bateman will have to play a near perfect game to pull this one off. However I do want to point out that Bateman is good enough to be at least an honourable mention in the AAA rankings. Don't take them lightly just because they have not been recognized. I feel they will be the 4th team coming out of the Valley for the BC's. (Prediction: Abbotsford)

Fleetwood @ North Delta
North Delta has been struggling a bit and has dropped a couple of spots in the rankings. They will have home court advantage but I see Fleetwood winning this game. I have a feeling its going to be a close game with both teams fighting hard for that #1 seed in their league. (Prediction: Fleetwood in a close finish)

Fleetwood is too deep for ND. I believe they beat them by 15 a couple weeks ago in a tournament.
