Any thoughts on JCS over Harvey girls? Harvey had a good go at Caledonia early on in the year 58-43 and then later on only losing by 6, 62-56!

Harvey does seem to he getting better. Closed the gap on Caledonia, lost early to GM and Canterbury before winning against them later. Will be tough for them in Caledonia though. Cal, Canterbury or Harvey could all win that sectional. Stanley will give Harvey a tough game but can't see them winning twice

I see two predictions above indicating Leo Hayes will meet FHS in the finals. Interesting since Riverview beat Leo by 20 in a recent meeting. Riverview is a legitimate contender.

I agree they are an extremely athletic team and should be in the final. Just gonna have to see how they respond to the pressure

Let us break down the sectional tournaments before we put people into the final:

Sorry, I'm just going to go through the AAA in this one.

AAA Girls:

1-McNaughton vs 4-Leo Hayes---this will be close(could be an upset special), but I'll give the 5 pt edge to the home team here
2-Sussex vs 3-Miramichi Valley---this will stay close for a while, but Sussex will win by 15 pts or so.

1-McNaughton vs 2-Sussex---another close one, but I think Sussex is going through by 10+

1-KVHS vs 4-James M Hill---KVHS at home will prove to be way too much for JMH...KV by 30+
2-Riverview vs 3-Fredericton---this is going to be another close one, but FHS will come through in the end...FHS by 12 pts

1-KVHS vs 3-FHS---KV has been the top team all season long and this will be no different. KV by 10+

AAA Boys:

1-Fredericton vs 4-Harrison Trimble---FHS dominant right now, handling every easily. FHS by 50 pts
2-McNaughton vs 3-Saint John High---Saint John High's athelticism will be too much too handle. SJHS by 15 pts

1-Fredericton vs 3-SJHS---FHS continues to roll...Harbour Station appearance by 40+

1-Riverview vs 4-KVHS---this will be much closer than people, possibly overtime. Riverview by 5 pts
2-Leo Hayes vs 3 Miramichi Valley---another close game, but Leo Hayes should pull away. Leo Hayes by almost 20 pts

1-Riverview vs 2-Leo Hayes---having already played this year with Riverview winning by 12...their athleticism should take over. If Leo Hayes shoots it well, they could stay in the game. Riverview at home by 14 pts.

AAA Girls: KVHS vs Sussex...KV win by 7 pts
AAA Boys: FHS vs Riverview...FHS by 40+

People may be a bit naive to discount FHS (girls) as a contender at HS........

AAA GIRLS FHS OVER SUSSEX- 10 pts
AAA boys FHS over LHHS - 28pts

I agree that FHS are the easy favorites for the AAA boys. This is basically a race for 2nd place. They are very solid and have a deep bench full of players that most AAA schools would love to have for starters. The challenge for the rest of the field is to hang around long enough into the game where weird things tend to happen. They lost a couple close ones to LHHS early in the season and recently blew a 14 point lead to Alma in the Dairy Town final. FHS lost twice this year to KV after leading most of the games, including the Riverboat final. Given the talent, they should blow everyone out. If some team can stay close, however, can FHS win that kind of game?

Rather than this thread being called "Harbour Station Predictions" we should just call it what it is " Hi I'm from ........ and my team is going to win!!!! " Smile

Right now sectionals not slated to be completed until Tuesday. With more weather coming on Tuesday could be settled even later. Does the additional time help/hurt anyone? Do we feel like the later Sectional could but anyone's chances who advances in in tougher? Does lack a prep time make a difference at this point?

FYI I think the answer to all these is no (unless someone has a kid nursing a bad ankle or something and the weekend is just more time to heal).

Just trying to find topics of discussion to fill a weekend where I'm in a gym coaching/watching every year.

How's weather, lovely sunny warm day in Fred, does it make sense to play today, skip Sunday then wrap up Monday/Tuesday, funny how Nbiaa is adamant on no missing school until it makes sense to them!

I think at least in the single sectionals you could have played today then found the first day/ place you could to play sectional finals. You could have played those games early or even done all the games in 1 day if teams had agreed.

IN the double sectionals I can see the need to cancel since the evening games would be late no matter what and storm is apparently coming. Though I do prefer the idea of playing games when and if you can then working it out to get the next one in as soon as possible.

I also think that is these situations the NBIAA could be flexible in terms of the hosting of games. Obviously the team that has earned the right to host should but if the other sectional semi or even the final if the host were upset could be held in a neutral site closer to each team to get games in sooner I think that should be ok.

Biggest issue at this point is the officials. As far as I know officials are supposed to be assigned from neutral/ balanced regions at a sectional and the longer this goes on the more likely it will be that someone will just have to play with the officials they can get not the ones that were assigned/earned the opportunity to go initially. I'm not involved in that portion of it though so I can't confirm that is case.

Sugarloaf girls go to Woodstock, Sugarloaf boys to Tantramar, Dalhousie boys to Hartland, GM boys to Caledonia etc... these teams have to travel 3 to 4 hours or more (one way) for their games. You think it makes sense for them to make this trip on Saturday and then if any of them win have to do the trip all over again to play on Monday or Tuesday

Pretty sure they don't

Yep travel is challlenge for some but others could play so why not get started, weather is iffy throughout the week, good luck. Also wonder if one day with 2 games for 2 teams would not settle it
