PostSubject: Great game   Sat Mar 01, 2014 11:19 pm

I am sure many Bears fans will disagree, but, the Ok Valley Game was a fantastic game. It's unfortunate that only one team from the Ok makes the big show.
Mt Bouchiere hosted the Valleys and did not disappoint. The atmosphere was electric and what basketball was all about. The bleachers were filled with 75% bear fans and a very conservative 25% KSS Owl fans. The Bears had lost 2 games to KSS already this yr and was not willing to accept defeat to a formidable foe. The bears and thier crowd took control of the game and KSS found themselves in foul trouble and behind 20 points at the half.

The start of the 3rd did not look good for KSS. Both teams commiting turnovers and not finishing scoring opportunities. Leaving many chances for the Bears to close the door on KSS. KSS lost a couple of players to fouls and when it all seemed over.the Buzz and Parker show took over. KSS took the offensive and the bears could not recover, many bears stood out in the contest, Tubbs,Johnson , and a few others ,however, the KSS squad was very composed and capable when the heat was on. Unfortunately, the Bear were not able to overcome the intense pressure from KSS.

^Just wondering if you could elaborate on the hoops scene in Kelowna. It seems like Mt Boucherie has a decent program - I think I remember they had a good team back when Goodwin and Bunce were at Kelowna. And I always hear about Dr Knox doing damage in the 8/9/10 levels. Do all those Dr Knox kids always go to Kelowna Secondary? And how does player development get done up there?

The Okanagan bball scene is very competative and fun too watch.
The Mt Bouchiere Bears and KSS Owls are long time adversaries and never disappoint when they play senior or the jr levels.
The past number of yrs has seen KSS take the lead with Provincial appearances. However, the Bears continually press the Owls everytime they meet. Nothing is taken for granted. Pride is a great motivator
Both schools have 2 gr 7-9 feeder schools to keep them competitive with the coast and each other , however, the past few yrs has seen KSS benafit from a stronger base program at thier feeder schools. (Dr Knox and KLO). Dr Knox gr 9 has placed top 3 in Provincials 3 of last 4 yrs.
Both KSS and Mt Bouchiere are well run programs and need to continually engage in their feeder schools to stay competative with the rest
Of the province and ultimately, each other.
