Tamanawis gets screwed! Have to play winner of Churchill/Grove in the Semi. Im looking forward to the semi of churchill/tammy, budding rivalry. Burnaby South and Claremont are also solid teams.

Holy Cross is a good school but let's not forget what happen last year losing in the semi-finals at AA. Would like to see them make final four but they need to win in the crunch and not look past teams.  afro

Would be a HUGE upset for that to happen.

Not much action in this thread even though it's almost semis. Sardis just pulled a HUGE upset over Gleaneagle in the quarters. First Semi is Tammy vs. Churchill for the third time this season. HC and VC battling now for that 4th spot. I think Tammy has looked like the best team so far, but Mindy Minhas could be a pain tomorrow as he's had a great tourney so far. From the other end I think HC goes all the way to the finals.

Tamanawis vs Churchill is going to be a classic. I think people are underestimating Sardis lets not forget Gleneagle had the Fraser Valley banner won but Tamanawis just came up clutch and Sardis destroyed them.

What an awful game to watch. Capped off with a horrendous call to foul out Bains.

Good tournament so far if you look beyond the first round. I think the blow outs in the first round really lend an argument to the old 20 team format.

Queen Charlotte's Nate Vogstad put up 75 points today on 16-30 shooting, 11-21 on three's. Anyone see the game??? I missed it.

So he had 34 points from the free-throw line?

His line was 16-30 from 2pt fg, 11-21 from 3pt fg, and 10-15 from the ft line. I walked into the gym in the 3rd qtr and he had 60, he sat the last 5 min or so of the game too I think. It was like Kobe vs the Raptors, lots of shots, and pts off TOs Mt Baker had 37 TOs and Queen Charlotte ended up with 42 pts off TOs

75 pts is the new Provincial record shattering the old one of 57 pts. Nathan Vogstad broke a 50 yr old record for most points in a single tournament game.

That call on bains was horrible. Ruined the ending of one of the greatest games this year.

Agreed very questionable call, I thought it was block live and on the replay. Hard way for Sukh Bains to finish his HS career on a bad whistle. Hate having refs ruin a great game, but all credit to Churchill especially Gr.10 Harry Liu stepping up to make some huge 3s in the 4th and OT.

Man that officiating was terrible! Mindy was bailed out multiple times with questionable foul calls, which were not called on both ends of the floor.

Simply atrocious.  When in doubt, that ref will always call a charge.

The Lakers needed every single one Kobe's 81 in that game.  Queen Charlotte wins by 80 and Vogstad plays almost the whole game with the bench getting no burn..  hmm.

I can guarantee that he won't be putting up 75 on Pitt tomorrow that's for sure!! Excellent accomplishment just the same!

75 pts by QC player is remarkable but don't quite get why you don't pull a starter in game against a very weak opponent.  I noticed a number of teams playing starters for most of game against weaker teams, perhaps padding stats or are they trying to make a point about need to change tourney format????

My pick is HC, provincial champion.

This will be a repeat of Ebe's RC Palmer championship team who lost in the AA tourney in 2011, only to win the AAA the next year. I have only seen HC play a game and a bit, but they are playing well and focussed. Maybe they learned something from last season.

The old scoring record, 58 points by Sam Vandermeulen (Abbotsford) in 1965, was against a weak Williams Lake team.  Other higher scorers: Tim Engelbert (West Vancouver) 50 points vs. Correlieu and Cameron Smythe (Charles Tupper) 50 points vs. Mount Baker were also against weaker opponents and were all on the consolation side of the draw.

On the other hand:

Jacob Doerksen (Rick Hansen) 54 points vs. Kitsilano in the 5th/7th place game;

Calvin Westbrook (GP Vanier) 52 points vs. WRCA in the opening round, albeit in overtime or double OT, I can't remember and in a losing effort;

Jesse Jeffers (Argyle) 50 points vs. Charles Tupper in the opening round, including the game winning layup at the buzzer;

Alan Tait (Richmond) 48 points vs. North Surrey - before my time as I was living in another province; and

Tony McCrory (Ladysmith) 48 points vs. Richmond in the quarterfinals.

For my money, the two most "impressive" performances were Jeffers (dominated the game and hit the game winning shot at the buzzer) and McCrory (Ladysmith's upset over a Richmond team that was "the" team of that decade).

It truly was an incredible game with two extremely talented teams trading punches until the end.  IMO the quality of play and intensity was a notch above any other games or teams in the tourney.  Would have made for a classic final.

The "big call" which fouled out Bains was a game changer.  I watched replay many times and it was not clear in my view (which normally is called against defender).  Have to give Churchill credit though - having lost to VC in LM, they had a tough draw and had to go through both Grove and Tammy.  Top 4 seeded teams now out.
