Simply atrocious.  When in doubt, that ref will always call a charge.

The Lakers needed every single one Kobe's 81 in that game.  Queen Charlotte wins by 80 and Vogstad plays almost the whole game with the bench getting no burn..  hmm.

Which ref was it? Was it the same ref that called a charge on Kelly Olynyk (when a no call would have been best) as he was dribbling to half and put up a halfcourt shot literally as the buzzer went to end regulation in the South Kamloops-St. George's AAA semifinal in 2009? A call that fouled him out after a remarkable 27-point comeback by South Kam...

Queen Charlotte's Nate Vogstad put up 75 points today on 16-30 shooting, 11-21 on three's. Anyone see the game??? I missed it.

So he had 34 points from the free-throw line?

His line was 16-30 from 2pt fg, 11-21 from 3pt fg, and 10-15 from the ft line. I walked into the gym in the 3rd qtr and he had 60, he sat the last 5 min or so of the game too I think. It was like Kobe vs the Raptors, lots of shots, and pts off TOs Mt Baker had 37 TOs and Queen Charlotte ended up with 42 pts off TOs

75 pts is the new Provincial record shattering the old one of 57 pts. Nathan Vogstad broke a 50 yr old record for most points in a single tournament game.

The box score on cybersportsusa.com is weird. It doesn't say 2pt FG, it just says FG's, but it has to be 2pt FG's for the math to work out. I didn't notice that at first.

Also a big shout out, to Manny Dulay of the UFV Cascades being a classless act towards the Sir Winston Churchill Bulldogs, specifically Mindy Minhas. I am all for rooting for your school and showing your pride, but for him and his other former Tamanawis teammates to be yelling explicit things towards the Sir Winston Churchill bench especially towards Mindy during the game last night, is a classless and stupid act. He is a CIS basketball player for the UFV Cascades and whether or not you are a CIS athlete or not, you should not be acting in this type of manner what so ever. Absolutely embarrassing to watch, maybe he is upset that his team wasn't even close to playing in the semi finals back in his senior year? Anyways, hopefully coach Friesen saw that and has a talk with this kid, as he not only embarrassed himself, but his Tamanawis team and his UFV Cascades team.

What a brutal call, the Sukjot call was ridiculous. The Tammy big getting called on the block which would have maybe sealed the game at the end there was almost just as bad. Mindy was getting star calls all game, and does anybody know the exact FTA difference between the two teams? Feel bad for that Tammy squad as many people were rooting for them as they would have been the first public school from Surrey to win provincials since North Surrey in the 80s. Such a talented team, yet Tammy came up short once again.

I have a lot of things to say about the tournament, but i'll post that later. For now congrats to the Churchill Bulldogs for the great victory. This Mindy Minhas kid is just something else...

Yeh he's a solid player, I just don't understand why the Holy Cross coaches wouldn't try playing 1 on 1 defense instead of a zone. With such an athletic and physical team it would be difficult to get easy baskets against Holy Cross. The zone was just daring Churchill to shoot or drive and kick out. A guy like Kongbo would be athletic enough and strong enough to guard Mindy. Great tourny though, congrats to Churchill. Will be exciting to see if this could be a dynasty with majority of the team returning besides Mindy.

PostSubject: Allstar Selection   Sun Mar 16, 2014 3:43 am

I'm a little confused why only one Churchill player made an allstar team (Mindy). Churchill's Gary Minhas should have at least made the second team. With Mindy on the bench for the entire second quarter, Churchill, behind Gary's play on both ends of the court held the lead with the MVP on the bench. Not taking anything away from the players selected but thought it was a little odd that one other SWC player wasn't there.

Great final, but had Churchill hit even 60% from the line the game wouldn't have been close. For HC Boire was the engine all week. He kept them close in the first half of the final but SWC's adjustment on him in the second half slowed him down leaving the rest of the team to handle most of the scoring. Without easy put backs they never really got on a roll. Claur (best defensive player) was a big part of them containing Boire in the second half. Tough loss for HC but a deserving win for Churchill. I suspect Gary will be on the podium next year.

Dissapointing to witness the stare downs and taunts. Not the right game for Kongbo and Dododza to lose their cools. Too much on the line. Entertaining game! Congrats SWC!

Great final that was a 3-5 pt game for most of the 40 min. HC could never get over the hump, and what ailed them all year 'discipline' cost them in this game, early foul trouble for Browne and Dododza, 2 FT violations that nullified 2 made FTs and the 2 techs really hurt any chance HC had at a W. But Mindy Minhas played his behind off, 14 pts in the 3rd and 10 pts in the 4th including that clincher 3 with the shot clock winding down, 30 sec left and Churchill clinging to a 1 pt lead. All credit to the Bulldogs who made shots when they needed to, a great way for Minhas to end his HS career.

Stumbled upon this.

Not sure if stats are available on another site or not.  Interesting....More to it than just stats (not sure who made decisions or what criteria is used) but IMO some allstars may have made it based more on reputation and overall season play rather than play in this tourney.

I believe they did this last year as well. Mike from Steveston-London was grinding and did an amazing job doing the stats. S/O to him!
