Please, several corrections to the above postings. Medicine Hat had 4 losses total. Both losses to O'Leary and McNally were in OT. The loss to O'Leary was the Hat's second game of the season as they were at their first tournament and had not started league. Their close games with Magrath and Cardston were while one of their starting players was out sick. And let's talk about the elephant in the room with the semi final against Ainley. The fouls were 9-1 first quarter against the Hat. Both teams matched up size and speed wise so this is a marked discrepancy. Both of the Hat's starting posts were in foul trouble before the game really got started. Late in the fourth quarter an Ainley shot bounced up and hit the strap above the basket. It should have been a dead ball but no call was made and Ainley got the rebound and kicked it back for a 3. With 22 seconds left Ainley took 15 seconds to get the ball across half and again there was no whistle. They scored again on that drive. The officiating was a big factor in that game which was more than unfortunate. Ainley is a great team but the playing field was not level.

Discrepencies?

Oleary beat Medicine Hat 75 to 58 in regulation not in overtime.

Nice work on making arguments based on injuries and officiating. So legitimate! I am sure no other teams in Alberta had key injuries this year and no other teams didn't have calls go against them. Come on!

Medicine Hat's losses:

Oleary 75 Med Hat 58
Jasper Place 74 Med Hat 66
Bishop McNally 89 Med Hat 84 Overtime
Harry Ainlay 100 Med Hat 93

Med Hat was an unreal team. Super fun to watch. I think they are the consensus 3rd best team in the province this year.

Surely you must agree that at this level of basketball calls like a dead ball and getting the ball across the centre court in due time should not be missed? Individual calls against players can always be debated by both sides.

Sounds like someone is bitter here more than anything

Im
Sure ainlay in that game might have said "this call should have went that way "

Bottom line

Ainlay beat Medicine Hat

And will be remembered
As #1 in albrrta for 2014

Oleary lost to ainlay in the final in a close game - ainlay was better
So oleary will go
Down as #2 for 2014

Medicine Hat had a good year
But not as good as ainlay or oleary (not at provincials and not during the year )
They will go down as #3
No shame in any of those placings

But don't discredit what other teams have done

Maybe look at teams that had 2-3 Alberta team players or high end club players that didn't do well at provincials or didn't make provicials before bashing others
