What about Cowichan who was made up with mainly grade 11 kids and has some strong grade 10 coming up next year? They finished 11 think and there leading scorer Josh Charles who basically carried their team couldn't even sneak into the second team all-star?  afro

Is JBB and family "moving" again to another catchment area? Maybe Churchill or BBY South might good spots to relocate. Laughing Very Happy Laughing

I'm assuming he goes South this summer to an East Coast prep school, like he was planning to last year.

I am a Cowichan supporter but I can't see how we would escape the top ten in these preseason rankings, with a team made of 2 provincial jr teams that were ranked top ten throughout the season 1 year ago and this year, we haven't seen a team so talented for many years in cowichan

It is very interesting how Kelowna gets such a high ranking each year but freedom of speech is great things and we live in a great country and in the best province. maybe because of the wonderful fruit they produce in Kelowna helps them out afro

They've (Kelowna) had the talent and wins to deserve their ranking every year; they've yet to produce when Provincials roll around, though.

I don't think Kelowna makes provincials next year. Mt. Boucherie lost a very close game to KSS in the Valley Championship this year and return most of their key players (Quincy Johnson / Jeff Tubbs / Braden Koop / Kache Kopec)

Maybe, maybe not. Let's keep in mind KSS had two grade 10's starting for them this year, and in spite of this their junior team was ranked No. 1 in the province for most of the year. As well, Dr. Knox was the top grade 9 team in the Okanagan again and probably has a grade 10 or two that can play senior next year for KSS...

Whoever is running the program at Dr. Knox, he's keeping that well wet and deep for the program at KSS.

Will be interesting to see how transfers may impact teams for next year.  Every year a school or two jumps up in standings due to "transfers" of key players (like Holy Cross last year). Hearing stuff about gleneagle players considering move elsewhere.  Sure to be some which will again make for some interesting discussions on boards.

With Jermaine Haley's reported move to Spain (http://northpolehoops.com/2014/04/06/jermaine-haley-heading-spain-reclassifies-2016/#.U0RXsaJ5-8A Burnaby South will probably drop out of the top tier of teams next year, they should still be very competitive and dangerous though I have them ranked anywhere from 6-10 after the departure, as they still return a strong group who won the Jr. title in 2013, with guards Tyus Batiste, EJ Mabone and forwards Nic Trninic, Roshan Bhatti helping carry the load with the impending absence of Haley.

Any thoughts on Bby Souths outlook next season ? Can they contend without Haley?

I really think Fox should be ranked 1 to start the season.

As rumoured, key grade 11 gleneagle players now playing on heritage spring league team (given collapse of gleneagle senior program). If this continues into fall, HW depth will be much improved and they will rise up in rankings.

Gleaneagle can't or won't field a senior team?

I find it very strange that a AAAA sized school cannot field a team in a sport like basketball given it's popularity. I know they had 2 starters that were grade 11 last year and another player who played siginificant minutes in the valley final that was grade 11. There aren't 7 other guys in grades 10-12 that could help make up this team??

Something's not right.

You raise some very good questions.

This has been rumoured over past year. Everyone knew that GE will be be greatly weakened after this year's excellent crop of grade 12s left. Coach was also parent of grade 12 so I am assuming (but don't know for sure) that he no longer wishes to coach. I don't think any of the current grade 11's are even pushing for a GE team next year as they would rather be able to play for stronger teams (like Heritage) in their final year. I understand that having no team means that transfer rules don't really come into play. I'm no expert but I don't even think they have to switch schools to play for Heritage if there is no team at Gleneagle - perhaps someone can clarify this.
