2013-14 Provincial Seeding

1 Chestermere High
2 Winston Churchill High
3 W.R. Myers High
4 Ponoka Secondary
5 Holy Trinity Academy Okotoks
6 Sturgeon Composite
7 Fort McMurray Composite
8 Monsignor McCoy
9 Edmonton Christian
10 Peace Wapiti
11 Barrhead Composite
12 Queen Elizabeth

Chestermere and WC should cruise through to the finals without a close game. I can't wait for that match up.

Just looking at HTA scores for their zone tournament posted to exnet.

12-Mar-2014 Holy Trinity Academy Okotoks 74 vs Springbank High 61
13-Mar-2014 Canmore Collegiate 70 vs Holy Trinity Academy Okotoks 73
14-Mar-2014 Chestermere High 93 vs Holy Trinity Academy Okotoks 59
15-Mar-2014 Holy Trinity Academy Okotoks 66 vs Cochrane High School 59

Perhaps those wins were by larger margins and leads were cut into by the buzzer. If anyone was there please enlighten us. Certainly the Chestermere game wasn't close no matter how you add up a 34 pt win. I don't see a scenario where Chestermere isn't the heavy favorite. Prediction: WC over Chestermere in the final.

How were the games this weekend? Based on the score, seemed like a good final.

It was a good tournament, well organized, exciting games and kind of went as expected. The final had a good match up of the 2 best teams in the province. The pg for Chestermere had a great shooting game in the final and lucky that he did as they would have lost it otherwise. The biggest problem with the final was the flopping. It was terrible. The pg throws his head back and flails his arms and and falls to the ground like he'd been shot and the refs bought it multiple times, especially in the second half. They clearly weren't watching the play and called it on his reaction alone. Credit the sell but is was a mockery of the game. If they used NBA rules the fines today would be endless. And almost every time he got that flop call it was a turnover going the other way. That was the difference in the game and really the only disappointing part of the entire weekend. You need quality officiating in a provincial final that will call the plays as they happens, not by the reactions of players.

It was a great year for WC and a great high school career for a number of graduating seniors. I'm looking forward to see what Mike will do next year with UofL.

You sound pretty bitter. I heard the kid had 48 points. Sounds like a clutch championship performance to me.

Not bitter at all. I'm not that connected to be bitter.

I'm certain that was a career game for him as he had the 3 ball going. Without question he won it for them. He would have shot the same from 3 without the arm flailing the head snap and the jello legs on the drives and it still would have been a career night for him. But they wouldn't have won.
