Most are their original HS teams.

Riverview missing 3 from their HS squad no additions.

Moncton is pretty much the BMHS team, again missing a couple players with no additions.

Sussex same team I believe no additions.

KV picked up 1 from Rothesay and 1 from Rothesay Netherwood. Couple subtractions including MacDonald. Have a 7 girl roster today.

Fredericton was the most notably different team with Hazlett, Al, Colpitts, McGeachy and Daley absent. Add 5 from most likely their JV unit.

There was an oversight and because KV had the win over Fredericton earlier they were originally awarded first place. There was a 3 way tie between Fredericton, KV and Sussex and because of this the tie breaker was to be points for/against ratio as per BNB tie breaking rules. Because of this, Fredericton was awarded the top spot.

As tournament organizers, we are extremely sorry for any disappointment and confusion this had caused to the teams and players involved. BNB and the coaches of the teams in question were notified last night prior to the release of the information.

Below you will find the results for day 2 along with player awards

Fredericton 61 -- 55 Riverview

Sussex 50 -- 48 Moncton

Fredericton 42-- 55 Kennebecasis

Riverview 57 -- 61 Sussex

Moncton 53 -- 71 Kennebecasis

Tournament All-Stars

Eva Tumwine -- Fredericton

Siobhan Murphy -- Riverview

Jen McTague -- Kennebecasis

Kate Foreman -- Moncton

Tournament MVP

Reese Baxendale -- Sussex

Sportsmanship Award

Molly Gulliver -- Kennebecasis

Final Standings

1.Fredericton -- 3 wins, 1 loss (2.07)

2.Kennebecasis -- 3 wins, 1 loss (1.3)

3.Sussex -- 3 wins, 1 loss (.37)

4.Riverview -- 1 win, 3 losses

5.Moncton -- 0 wins, 3 losses

Great to see the Reese Baxendale, win tournament MVP for Juvenile tier 1. She will be anchor of our U15 team this summer. Meanwhile in Tier 2 Juvenile another Grade 9 U15 , Megan Stewart, put up big numbers for Saint John against Fundy in the final. Bailey Black up in the Miramichi and Lauren Flemming in Sussex are both U15 girls who spent the whole year playing varsity also. Throw in all the U15 girls who did battle in the midget tier 1 final (KV versus Sussex) and the U15 girls team candidates had had a great year of tough competition against older girls. This team could have a shot at playing New Brunswick into the first Tier this year. (Sussex U14 took Hamilton to the wire in the club championship last year so the Dairy town girls have experience playing physical Ontario teams . Also the NB girls as a U14 team easily handled Nova Scotia U14 by 30 points last summer at BNB Summerfest ).

"Great to see the Reese Baxendale, win tournament MVP for Juvenile tier 1."

You are kidding me right? Although a good player and potentially a great player she was not the best player at the recent juvenile tournament.

I am hearing same as breaker coach, did not see but those who did suggesting there were several more worthy candidates than 9th grader on 3rd place team, apparently selected before the tournament games were even finished.

Show A little class. We are not debating the selection of a MVP. The discussion was about the depth of the U15 team. Sportsmanship means you congratulate those who are awarded all star and MVP selections. The coaches usually vote on these selections and Reese obviously impressed enough coaches to garner the most votes.

I did not see every game. Saw a lot of them though. Fact is this was a very close tournament with a lot of worthy kids potentially for MVP. All that separated first place to third place was a calculator. To bad a championship game could not have been played. A five team tournament makes it tough.

I also agree that U15 team this year should be a strong one.

"Show A little class"

More things that make you go hmmm..

"The coaches usually vote on these selections and Reese obviously impressed enough coaches to garner the most votes."

I don't think the coaches voted this time.

I want to apologize about my reference to Reese, too personal and out of line, I hope she does well and u 15 also. I do
Think there are still underlying issues about these tournaments, final game would be nice but even if that is not possible and with tournament host acknowledgement firmly in mind, how does banner get handed out, signed by players on receiving team (kv) and then error confirmed? This is hard for both teams Fred and kv, was bnb rep at tournament? If it is true that all stars and MVP were named before tournament games completed, not acceptable. While I am ranting how were they selected, it's easy to assume coaches voted, let's confirm it and did bnb rep get a say?

Impeccable introspection Brady 12!!! These high school players are just kids and our positive feedback plays a large role in their future confidence. We all know from being around sport that confidence is the single most important key to success at these higher levels.

BNB gives no guidelines for how to pick all stars and MVP's. THe tournament guide simply states:

"The tournament host may provide awards for MVP and All-Star team members, if desired." .

It is not unusual for all stars to be selected before the final game. Usually in a traditional tournament with a final game you would move one girl to MVP status based on final game play. A little tougher in a round robin tournament. The organizers would have established the rules for the selection and players were selected based on their criteria. Celebrate there success!!

Sounds like there were some great competitive games in Tier 1.

Link to BNB tournament guide including there well documented tie breaking procedure (http://www.basketball.nb.ca/app/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=61dIk77PBjw%3d&tabid=220&language=en-US)
