They also lost to unranked Abe

I was just saying watch how some teams are always ranked

Yet lci lost to a potential " ranked " team in Paul Kane but will be lower than lacombe

I predict Calgary will have the top 4 teams church
Mcn bob lac

I would be very surprised if that was the case. Lacombe, with their loss to Abe will have a tough time staying in the top 10. McNally and BOB on the other hand deserve high rankings due to their performances at the REB. Calgary is the strongest region right now but let's see how the season progresses.

This was easier than I thought it was going to be until 9 - HM. There are only subjective, subtle differences at the bottom. I wouldn't be surprised to see that completely different once the rankers get their hands on it. The loss by FL to WA was huge and made this tougher than it could have been otherwise. WA have had some impressive games with some strong guard play but have also had a few not so impressive games. A bit of a wild card at 10. Father Lacombe could have been 2nd had they not tanked that game and 9th might be too harsh of a drop. They're an intriguing team. They could go top 5 but they could drop right off the HM over the next couple ranking periods.

1. SWC (12-0) Easy choice.
2. Bishop McNally (10-3) Losses to SWC, Father Lacombe and non-ASAA team. Someone should tell them to enter the scores from the REB. You'd think they would want to do that considering those games are the key to this entire ranking.
3. BOB (7-3) Losses to SWC, FL and non-ASAA team.
4. Ross Shepard (9-2) Loss to BM and a beat down to BOB.
5. HA (8-1) Loss to RS
6. StFX (8-2) loss to RS and HA
7. Oleary (11-3) Losses to RS, BM and non-ASAA team.
8. Paul Kane (10-4) Losses to RS, Leduc, BOB, Oleary
9. Father Lacombe (9-4) Losses to SWC and a bad loss to WA. But a big win over McNally and BOB.
10. William Aberhart (9-3) Losses to EM, BM and Notre Dame but a big win over Father Lacombe. Officially on the radar.

HM LCI (4-1) - 2 scores posted. Only 1 by LCI. Beat down by Paul Kane. If you don't want to post, don't expect to get ranked.
HM St Francis Calgary (3-4) losses to WA, Oleary, SFX, SWC
HM Ernest Manning (5-2) Losses to BOB and St Francis Calgary
HM Bishop Grandin (7-3) Losses to WA, McNally, BOB
HM Cardston (4-1) Loss to Chestermere at home in their own tournament.

There are some scores still trickling in.

I think you are pretty darn close but I don't see the Southern Alberta ranker putting up with not one team in the top 10. You will see LCI or Cardston in the top 10 somewhere even though they may not deserve it.

No one advocates for the south more than me and I do believe we'll see LCI in the top 5 again soon but they also have to get it together. Players and coaches. I can't see Chad demanding something that isn't realistic. But then again the bottom of that list is questionable anyway so if they do sneak on as #10 I wouldn't be shocked either.

Rumor has it that WA is still seen as an outsider and will not crack the top 10 with their big win over Father Lacombe. We may also see props going to the south, at least with HMs. I would guess they would probably go to Magrath, Cardston and Catholic Central. If that happens its good news for the south who generally get better over the year which I personally believe is due to overall higher quality coaching and the way they ease into their seasons more than the city teams. So at least they'll be on the radar with the chance of moving up as they get more games in against Calgary and Edmonton teams. LCI should break the top 10 if WA is going to be HM at best.

There is no way Calgary can't go 1, 2, 3 in 4A. I would be shocked if it happens any other way but I do think there is still the perception that Edmonton teams are better than the rest of the province when that simply isn't the case. SWC, as the only undefeated team at 12-0, McNally and BOB have to be top 3. Everyone south of Red Deer will call foul otherwise.

We may not see that perception manifest itself in the 4A ranking this period but it may impact 3A. With 3 wins at the Cardston tournament and the south looking like they'll have at least a few HMs in 4A, Chestermere has to be a lock for #1 in 3A. Leduc should come in at #2 as those two teams seem to be a step ahead of the next tier that includes Cochrane, HTA, St Joesph and Sturgeon. That goes under the assumption that wins are the most important part of the equation. If perceived SOS against non-comparison ED teams trumps wins and the Edmonton biases come into play with 2 rankers from the north and the HTA coach the only ranker from the south, we may see Edmonton over ranked in general with teams like EC and, by a comparison game, SCA getting ranked higher than they should be despite EC's 5-7 losing record. And if it becomes political, there are almost always concessions.

Concessions? Some sort of conspiracy theory among rankers sounds ridiculous. Please explain.

No. Not a conspiracy at all. It simply means the discussions go something like - I'll give you that if you give me this. There is almost always an angle.

Rankings are out an I believe they nailed it. Sugar Bowl in Raymond will certainly decide the next rankings as Shep, Ainlay, LCI, and SWC are all there. I would like to see that one.

I agree. Its nice to get an agreement between the 4 of them that makes sense. Does anyone have a draw and schedule for the sugar bowl they can post?

4A First Ranking:

1. SWC
2. Bishop McNally
3. BOB
4. Ross Shepard
5. HA
6. Oleary
7. Father Lacombe
8. Paul Kane
9. StFX.
10. LCI

HM Bishop Grandin
HM Cardston High
HM Catholic Central High
HM Magrath School
HM William Aberhart

StFX. seems a bit lower than they should but FL is probably in a more accurate position than what I had them and so something had to give somewhere. Overall nice work by the rankers.

Some early shake-ups already. I see that Cardston beat LCI by 12 and then Magrath took Cardston in the final by 20 at the Magrath tournament. Maybe the South is not as one sided as everyone predicted.

I don't think FX was/is too low
If anything they were too high

Magrath should take their spot

Next ranking FX will likely
Drop out
Lci seems like they can't win tough games or meaningful games

Hm for lci is good

I just don't understand why go with a hm rank

Why not just rank teams 1-20 or 25 like NCAA

Really if you're not in the top 20-25 you won't be in provicials / be a threat

Unless your hand given spots like foothills
Grande prairie and lllyodminster and whoever makes it
From red deer

Can they not go 32 team tourney with edm and cal regionals ?

Then a final 16 or 8 or final 4 somewhere ?

The "fair-equality" police would never let this happen. Every year at provincials the top teams are not represented. Usually teams 13-16 should not be there. It would be awesome to see the "real" top 16 teams at provincials every year but you would never see any deep North/NW/NE teams there. You probably would never see any Red Deer teams either.

Bishop O'byrnes best player who didnt play a single minute last season due to a torn acl has suffered another injury to the same knee early this season i'm not sure how serious it is , but it looks like BOB is holding up just fine without him as they are ranked 3rd in the province

Sorry for the thread resurrection. But this sat in my gizzard all year. Now hear we sit with the last 4 in the province. All but 1 is from the south. Just saying.

20 points - first game
- good trip for LCI

- shows how the south is a joke - and maybe deserves 1 - max 2 teams at provincials

any other words to describe it?

also Oleary lost by 25 to shep in a bad game - but then responded in a 2-3 point game against them the next day I think

LCI would likely forfeit before the game started - if forced to play - it would probably be 103 - 47 - my NBA 2014 simulator predicts that

also Ball is life - what has FX done to be ranked higher than Ainlay, Oleary, JP?
- losing to shep in OT is the highlight of the season for you?

I saw them clobber loydmister - so maybe thats why they are 4th in alberta - when do they play Misercordia Hospital so they can move up to #2 or #3?

please explain FX results better than those 3

Steamrolled has been quiet all year. I wish he'd come back and post something else if for no other reason that the entertainment value. Maybe if HA beats LCI tomorrow we'll be enlightened once more by his words of Edmontonian wisdom. Or bravado. Doesn't matter. As long as he writes while intermittently hitting return so that his post extends over 5 or 6 entrys. That will be enough for me.

LCI is hitting their stride and will take down Ainley on their way to the title. Predicting Cardston is in final as well. Although the south zone was weaker than usual this year it should be no surprise 3 of top 4 are from the south, toughest zone in prov!

Weaker than usual? I've been around a lot of years. The south was not weaker than usual. When was the last time we saw a player as dominant as Seran come out of the south?
