Hartland just beat Sussex. Looked like a whole new team out there. Should be interesting to watch Woodstock and Harvey play later this afternoon. Cant wait for the AA season to get going again, should be some good ball this year..

What about Canterbury? They are coming in hot and cold. beat Mcadam, nackawic. lost to hartland by 42( looked terrible). after next week we will now how good they are. they play FCS and John caldwel then have a tournament in Grand Manan. Zach Johnson is no doubt their best player but have a solid line up and a mediocre bench. They are top 3 team in my opinion.

Very generous in giving Canterbury a number 3. Not a huge difference but a 4 or 5 at best...But, we shall see in the next couple of weeks.

All the rumours are true...RNS have a couple import players from Nova Scotia who can do it all. They both played provincially for the 15U NS team. #4 Will Spaulding and #13 Andrew Milner. Big advantage for private schools to go out and recruit talent with the lure of scholarships, I hope that someone with the NBIAA is making sure all is legit and on the up and up.These 2 players are very skilled...RNS beat both FCA and McAdam this week handily.. RNS plays in Harvey this Friday night, should be the game of the week in Class "A". Let's call it the Battle of the Built against the Bought.

How about a league just for the private schools...Sussex, Moncton, Fred, RNS...others?

I don't think to many "A" schools are struck with fear in sports when they hear the names of the private Christian schools in Moncton, Sussex and Fredericton. When you look at the standings of most sports they are at or near the bottom, and at FCA/DPCS we have won two provincial banners (boys basketball and girls soccer) over the past 22 years.

As far as recruiting I think the NBIAA is pretty clear on its guidelines, and it is up to the schools to follow the rules, and the NBIAA to police it. Personally as a coach, the process and challenge of developing and growing a team is what is so enjoyable and rewarding about coaching. Winning with a team of inherited superstars should be easier (unless your playing the San Antonio Spurs:) but personally would be less gratifying.

From the sounds of it RNS is building up a prep program similar to their hockey team which I think is great for them and basketball in our province (whether that happens within the NBIAA is up to the NBIAA to decide). I often tell my players we can't worry about what other teams are doing, we can only focus on what we can control. Hopefully the next time out we are better prepared to compete and play at a higher level with the strong basketball/sports teams in our province because we earned it through hard work.

I continue to wish people were as excited about raising the quality of kids and programs in NB as they were about who other teams had on their rosters.

Talent = Time working on your game. If you want to have more talent you know what the solution is . . .now if you can convince kids to do it please let me know how.

Harvey seems to be looking solid so far and perhaps throughout the whole season, simply dominating the south in A. Is there anyone who can upset them in single A? Thoughts?

McAdam held a 2 point lead at half 38-36. In the end list 80-64 in a well played game.

RNS beats Harvey 91-69.
They're looking pretty unstoppable with Will Spaulding and Andrew Milner, both averaging 30+. Spaulding had 62 in a blow out and Milner had 54 against Harvey tonight. They work together very well and have good structure with well thought plays. Looking like possible champions.

Might as well give RNS the banners for the next 3 years if it's gonna be like this

So in the south it is RNS 1, Harvey 2, McAdam 3 and Campobello 4?

South will most likely be 1. Harvey 2. RNS 3/4. TBD

RNS lost to SJDA in league play when one of Milner or Spaulding did not play. Harvey would need to lose another league game to be bumped to 2nd place.

Are we ready to revisit the issue of a school buying a team? If RNS is healthy they will win A this year. Or should the basketball community still look the other way. RNS has a great coach and are building a strong program. This is great for this province but the fact is they are breaking the rules to do so. Just as they did with their hockey program. They were close to last a season ago they just beat the heavy favorited team by 30 points. RNS needs to be an exhibition team, good for them for building this great program everyone will be lining up to get games in against strong team but it crazy to continue letting them play in a public school league while they are openly recruiting players.

I thought we decided that Harvey was going to win. And, if you ask HussiesForever, Hartland already has the banner because they will trounce everybody. Does this mean we have to give out 3 banners?

I had a discussion on the Rns fit within Nbiaa objectives when they won A championship several years ago and my conclusion then and remains, there Is no good fit. You can't expect a program which can openly recruit student athletes, has deep pockets and can set its own guidelines to remain satisfied with restraints imposed upon public schools operating in the current NB fiscal environment. It is much bigger issue than developing athletes, citizens and programs and winning banners. Nbiaa should not be a policing agency, seems they have to spend scarce resources now monitoring messes in other sports, eg hockey. The admin leadership in NB at both departmental level and locally needs to step up clearly define the learning objectives from athletics provide sufficient resources and not be bound by the notion that what happens on the field, rink outside of school is of any consequence. To those who want to perform to a national standard get organized and move forward, both have legitimate goals, just not complimentary .

I think its great for the league and the province. Look how strong single A is right now. Probably at its peak. You have Harvey, RNS, Hartland, and John Caldwell, and they all are competing with each other and with AA and some AAA. Why not let RNS keep doing what they are doing. So they beat Harvey by 20+ that's the first time they have. And the only time people complain about them 'recruiting' is when they win. If Harvey doesn't have a good shooting game they lose, if they shoot the ball well they win.

We start doing something about RNS when they are beating tough AA and AAA teams by 20+ maybe bump them up to AA/AAA, they had one game where they beat Harvey by 20, JC or HCS could do that as well to Harvey or each there.

Classless act of taunting from one of the RNS players at the very end of the game.....walks up to Harveys bench with 30 seconds left and starts talking smack......What did you think of that Coach77? think it might be even more motivation for when they meet again?

Perhaps the young lad was reading posts on here about Harvey winning games by 40 something on average and how unbeatable and far ahead they are from everyone else in A Ball. Wait a minute maybe they aren't , but then again it is only one game. Very Happy
