I wouldn't put too much into these rankings as NorthPole Hoops typically favours teams from Ontario. Anything east or west of the big province in fact rarely gets any recognition as they know little about our high school programs. Too bad really, so much talent and too little exposure outside of the Maritimes. I do hope they(Fredericton) remain on the list along with Auburn and that some other eastern schools eventually get their due, but in all reality they'll more than likely fall off in the next couple of weeks as NorthPole shifts it's focus centrally.

Any changes to the rankings after the miramichi tip off tournament? I've heard MVHS beat leo hayes, Riverview lost to leo hayes in overtime, and then Riverview beat MVHS by 8 or so in the leo hayes vs Riverview game both teams were missing 2 of their starting line up, leo hayes was missing them the whole weekend.

Auburn defeated Leo in final. Game was close at half but Auburn opened things up in 2nd half, won by 30+ margin. The Fredericton/Auburn semi was pretty close and was a very exciting game. Fredericton challenged most of the second half but weren't able to overcome the deficit.

Fredericton High over Saint John High 85-75. Fredericton High's 3 ball and team speed made the difference. SJHS were not able to routinely take advantage of their size advantage.

Lions 77-71, very up tempo teams playing them need to be fit and deep..not for faint of heart. Gym full, loud likely best rivalry in NB hs sport.Fhs not tall as in previous yrs but very athletic. Lions not quite as athletic but very tough sometimes lack of discipline hurt, but on this nite deserved win. Lions will need to stay healthy, academically eligible and out of foul trouble. Fhs will Need to shoot better, look after ball and stay within their system.

Here we go, we're going to rank these teams the same way Northpolehoops does, as these are the guys who gets paid and clearly know more about it than everyone else:

1- KVHS
2- Riverview
3- FHS
4- LHHS
5- MacNaughton
6- Harvey
7- MacNaughton(not my typo, just writing as the experts say)
8- SJHS

Anyway, there are the Top 8 (errr, 7 I guess) straight from NPH.

I would say that they're pretty close to bang on. Thoughts?

Lot happening at Northpole this time of year would not put a lot of stock in this very early ranking.

I think the folks at Northpole might need to do a little more research, or at least look back at the scores Gale is forwarding out to the NBIAA Coaches Association.

Based on results I've seen so far this season, plus the games I've seen in person, this would be my attempt at ranking teams...

1) Leo Hayes - Shaky start to the season at the Miramichi Valley tip-off tournament, however, they haven't lost a game when they have had a full roster including a wins over Auburn and FHS.

2) Fredericton - Only have one lost to an NB opponent (Leo Hayes). Solid wins over KVHS and SJHS.

3) KVHS - Lost to FHS by 20+ but beat SJHS by 20+. Won Halifax Grammar tournament. Have not played anyone else and don't have a common opponent with Riverview so flip a coin at the 3-4 spots.

4) Riverview - Lost in OT to a short handed Leo Hayes team and beat MVHS. They are in the Gray Cup tournament this weekend along with FHS, LHHS, BMHS and Moncton so they could be on the move.

5) Sussex - Wins over Woodstock and Harvey but haven't played anyone on the list above them. They visit KVHS on Tuesday this week however.

The order for the next five gets much harder...

?) MVHS - Got everyone's attention by beating Leo Hayes the opening weekend. Then lost to Riverview that same weekend. This past weekend the beat Woodstock and McNaughton but then lost to SJHS.

?) Woodstock - Beat Harvey by 29 but lost to McNaughton.

?) Harvey - Beat Bernice McNaughton by 3

?) BMHS - Took down SJHS in OT but lost to Woodstock

?) SJHS - Lost to LHHS, FHS, KVHS and BMHS. Won the Medevil Madness tournament including a win over MVHS in the semi-finals
