PostSubject: Post Scores or Updates for 2014/2015 Season   Tue Nov 25, 2014 6:31 pm

Excited for another season.

Opening day games were yesterday Monday Nov 24/14.

Holy Cross 83 @ Walnut Grove 85
HC-Taylor Browne 34 pts, Alex Asperin 18 pts
WG-Bryce Derton 29 pts, Tyler Anderson 21 pts
Good opening game, Holy Cross really set the pace of the game with their press, keeping the game at a high tempo. Walnut Grove guards had some trouble with the pressure but their size down low paid dividends getting many put backs and rebounds. Bryce Derton and Taylor Browne went at each other all night, Derton had success driving to the hoop, living at the free throw line for most of the game, while Browne would answer with multiple 3's and slashes to the paint. Grove was up 5-10 most of the game, while Cross made a late run taking a 1 pt lead near the end of the game, FTs would put Grove back on top and Cross ended up with a chance with 4 sec left but the shot rimmed out. Great way to start the season, hope to catch as much HS ball as I can this year.

Games on Tuesday Nov 25/14

Terry Fox 68 @ Vancouver College 81
TF-Liam Hancock 21 pts, Jomari Reyes 16 pts
VC-Chris McAlpine 21 pts, Jordan Lum-Tong 13 pts
Vancouver College was ahead the majority of the game, controlled the tempo and were the aggressors throughout. The Fox press did little to slow the Irish offense as the VC  guards kept pushing the ball and getting easy transition baskets. Fox offense was flat throughout, could not get set and shots werent falling. VC got all the 50/50 balls and just seemed quicker to the ball than the Ravens. VC is a legit contender this season, seasoned, tough and skilled.

Games on Wednesday Nov 26/14

Heritage Woods 66 @ Walnut Grove 67
HW-Cordell Parker 27 pts, Tamam Gasmalla 8 pts
WG-Tyler Anderson 19 pts, Ty Rowell 13 pts
A slower pace than the previous Grove game vs Holy Cross, but the game was decided by the Gators advantage in the paint. Heritage is a small team and gave up too many offensive rebounds to Grove, great outside shooting by Parker kept HW close all game, but Anderson was too much underneath. Gr.10 Gator guard Ty Rowell had a good game after a rough first night vs HC, good speed, nice shot and can finish in the paint, good early game by two top teams.

Games on Thursday Nov 27/14

Collingwood 43 @ Winston Churchill 96
WC-Jerwin Ibit 20 pts, Lambert Pajayon 17 pts, Harry Liu 16 pts, Matija Gabrilo 16 pts
Sloppy 1st quarter from the Bulldogs, but Sr. guard Ibit was on fire late in the first hitting 2 straight 3s and an and-1 3, a strecth where he had 10 straight pts to end the qtr. Ibit is lightning quick, confident, can make plays for himself or his teammates, a player I did not see much of him last year but look out, he's a gamer. The defending champs rolled to a W off a ballanced attack of outside shooting from Ibit and Pajayon and great post play by Liu and Gabrilo who play similar styles starting at elbow/high post they are both dangerous on the either jump shot or hard drive to the hoop, very effective and aggressive especially Liu.

Games on Friday Nov 28/14

Panorama Ridge 66 @ Holy Cross 93
HC-Keegan Konn 24 pts, Taylor Browne 21 pts
Holy Cross dominated the game from the start, aggressive defensive schemes caused Panorama a lot of problems. Gr.10 sharp shooter Keegan Konn hit 7 3 ptrs, while Sr. guard Taylor Browne added 5 3 ptrs. of his own. PRs Chucks Udevi had some moments as he came alive in the 3rd qtr with 2 huge dunks to help PR make a little run, but HCs depth and aggression was too much for a young inexperienced PR squad.

Games on Monday Dec 01/14

Holy Cross 105 @ Delta 97
HC-Taylor Browne 58 pts, 13 reb, 8 stl, 5 blk, 4 ast; Alex Asperin 20 pts
Delta-Jake Cowley 34 pts; Jas Singh 18 pts
Good game with a good crowd out in Ladner, Delta boys played tough the Pacers used the size and skill of Gr.10 forward Jake Cowley to dominate the paint and glass to lead most of the 1st half. Holy Cross Sr. guard Taylor Browne started to turn it on in the 2nd half, coming out with 18 pts in the 3rd qtr, then a blazing 23 pts in the 4th qtr, with 16 straight to start the final frame, but the Pacers did not give an inch and were in the game throughout. Watch out for this young Delta squad they will give teams fits with their size and skill, Cowley and Singh will be a force in Sr. basketball for the next 3 years, but Browne was too much on the night as he put on an offensive clinic of spot-ups, pull-ups, step-backs, dribble-drives and and-1 finishes.

Games on Wednesday Dec 10/14
Heritage Woods 76 @ Winston Churchill 81
Injury bug has seem to hit alot of teams coming into winter break as Churchill had a very noticeably large contingent in street clothes and Heritage did also have a few players sitting out. Churchill was missing Gary Minhas, Amit Sekhon, Lambert Pajayon, Matija Gabrillo and Simon Marriott while Heritage was missing Cordell Parker and Sherko Kord. Still a solid game between Top 10 teams, Churchills Sr guards Jerwin Ibit and Arnel Santiago who have been forced extended minutes due to injuries have shown that they can play and make a difference hitting 3s and driving into the lane to give Churchill a double digit lead by halftime. Karn Virk and Harry Liu would carry the offense in the 3rd, while late in the 4th quarter Heritage started raining 3s from Jacob Mcmahon and Jonah Devereux closing the gap to 1pt with less than a minute left. 3 pts down with 10 sec left Heritage had a chance but Churchills Jerwin Ibit stole the inbound and cruised for a layin to ice it.

Richmond 101 @ Kitsilano 118
Kits-Howard Wang 40 pts (8 threes)
Killarney 50 @ West Van 74
