SSHS has to go into UMRHS on Sat and the school has expressed concerns for their safety there and are asking for some NBIAA and or other type of security ....UMRHS has a rep for players being out of control ....rookie Coach tries but players have little respect for him or their schools reputation or team pride (or NBIAA rules if that suspended player played this weekend)...if the parents can act the way they did in sshs , god knows what they will do at home..

I like a good rumour as much as the next guy, but this one is fairly serious, and I personally think you should withdraw it until you have confirmation.

I don't know anything about UMRHS or their reputation so I'll leave that to others but I can confirm that SSHS has requested that the NBIAA have a representative at the game.

PostSubject: South AA Varsity Boys   Sun Jan 24, 2010 11:37 am

The four teams in the south have been decided but not the order yet. McAdam and Harvey and 1 and 2 but Fundy and Campobello are still battling for 3 and 4. Fundy (5-4) has to travel to Campobello (4-3) on the 29th. Fundy beat Campo at home 83-67 earlier this season but things could be very different on the island. Campo also has a home game left against Harvey and after watching their overtime game Friday night in Harvey that could go Campos way too. Their other game is on the road at McAdam on Feb 2nd. That one will be a little tougher for them to win. If I was Devon Park I think I would be hoping for Campobello so they could play Fundy when they host the south/west zones or sectionals or regionals or whatever they call them now!

PostSubject: Top 8   Sun Jan 24, 2010 12:22 pm

1. McAdam - Haven't lost to a AA team since the first game of the year.
2. Sugarloaf - Despite the controversy easily handled UMRHS and now will likely finish 1 in North with win over Devon.
3. Devon Park - Best in the West . An argument could be made for any order 1,2,3
4. UMRHS - Great record. Some drama but big win over Harvey recently, tough loss to ECB.
5. Harvey - Play everyone tough but haven't played great lately.
6. Fundy - Still erratic but keep winning the ones they are supposed to.
7. Campobello - Campobello is coming on strong lately. Big weekend next could jump them into the top 5.
8. Petticodiac - Solid season likely #1 in the east.

This obviously can't be the 8 for sectionals as it includes 5 south-western teams and only 3 north east. At this point though these are the top 8 AA teams.

I'd have to agree with that top 8.rounding out the top 10 would be hartland and ECB. All playoff positions are almost sealed, I don't think canterbury is mathmatically clinched yet but will be soon. There will be tonnes of interesting match ups in the first round especially in the northeast with potential meetings of UMRHS and Minto being very interesting.
Was in Campbellton today for a Middle School Tournament and was told (by someone who would know) that the decision has been made and the Sugarloaf / UMRHS game will stand as played. Sugarloaf win by 21 (or 22 I forget the exact score they said). The UMRHS player who left the bench got a suspension of some sort as well but I was not told how long or given any details on that.
Ok I'm getting really tired of this whole sugarloaf ordeal. Its over, sugarloaf got the win and noone was suspended on either team. As far as security, it was requested that UMRHS principle be present during the game. There, that's it!!! End of story it doesn't matter what he or she said, all anyone should be worried about is playoffs at this point.

i was wondering, where harvey beat campo in ot does the point differential still apply, or if cmpo beats harvey in regulation does that give them the tie breaker

Campo would have to win vs Fundy, Harvey and McAdam in order for point differential with Haryey to matter.

I don't want to drag this out any more than it already has been but I was told this morning from "the man himself" in F'ton that there is a 5 game suspension coming for someone as a result of the game in Campbellton.

So here are the playoff seedings as of today.

East
1Petti
2Minto
3Belleisle
4JMA

Petti has clinched first and minto second. JMA and Belleisle play this weekend for 3rd and 4th.

North
1Sugarloaf
2UMRHS
3ECB
4Blackville

Sugarloaf can clinch first with a win over UMRHS and ECB.ECB will clinch 2nd with a win over Blackville as they beat UMRHS by 3 more than UMRHS beat them. UMRHS can clinch 2nd if ECB loses and first if ECB loses and they beat Sugarloaf by 20. Most likely Sugarloaf will be first WCB 2nd and UMRHS 3rd but a lot is yet to be decided.

South
1Mcadam
2Harvey
3Fundy
4Campobello

Mcadam has clinched first as they have beaten Harvey twice.Harvey has almost clinched second with one more win they will. Its really a battle between Fundy and Campo for 3rd and 4th.

West
1Devon Park
2Hartland
3Southern Vic
4Canterbury

It is how you see it.

hmmm....guess there was more fact than fiction to the "rumours"

one question...who host the conference tournaments this year for boys....??

also if that suspended player played in that stanley game this week...will umrhs have to forfeit? will that affect standings?

just askin???

No they will not forfeit because they were never notified of any suspension the rules state that if a player is officially suspended and plays then that player can be suspended for a longer period of time and the coach can be suspended to.

The hosts are Petitcodiac and Devon Park. The Devon Park games will be played at OHS with the exception of the first game.
