Can someone explain the Edmonton provincial berth set up? The way I see it, Edmonton sends 3 berths, 1 wildcard, and a host. The host is JP. HA, RS and OL have already qualified. If the 2 remaining teams are HT and STFX, why not just have them play to see who gets the wildcard?

Do the city championships also count as zone playoffs for 4A teams?

Yes the city championships are the zone qualifiers as well. HA, RS and OL have already got the #1,2 and 3 seeds for provincials. Now HT, STFX, and JP must playoff to see who the #4 and #5 seeds will be. STFX plays HT and the loser is out. Winner will play JP {host} to determine 4th and 5th seed.

That certainly makes it easier for the rankers to seed provincials, at least among the Edmonton teams.

Aball, that is what I thought they would do too but they decided to have JP host HT first.

1.If HT wins, they move on to play St.FX for the #4 seed. If HT loses to St.FX, they are out with St.FX picking up the #4 seed and JP the #5 seed. If HT beats St.FX, HT gets #4 seed and St.FX is out.

2.If JP beats HT,then JP moves on to take on St.FX. If St.FX wins against JP, St.FX would get the #4 seed and JP would be the #5 seed. If JP beats St.FX, then JP is the #4 seed and St.FX plays HT in an elimination game for the final spot.

Yes-they changed it. A little confusing but it gives us something to watch while the other zones finish up this week.

Also, I don't think enough was made of Shep's win over Ainlay in the final Saturday night. DOMINATING! A new favorite at provincials??
