Leo Hayes over FHS 78-71 last night, sounds like these two teams are at the top.

my top 8 below:
1. Leo Hayes (latest win puts them #1)
2. FHS
3. BMHS
4. MVHS
5. Moncton
6. Riverview ( could be higher but no scores reported)
7.KVHS
8.SJHS

Leo Hayes is way to inconsistent to be ranked 1. They were beat by MVHS just last week. The rest looks decent though.

Yikes! Give MVHS some credit.

They're well coached and have plenty of kids with provincial team experience.

That kinda was my point. How can they be above MVHS when they were already beat by them. The provincial player thing I don't put much stock in that other than they played all summer. Which a lot of kids do now.

Lol all players are different with there own teams provincial team time is not the same . The past summer showed that with the u17 boys getting run over most the year. After the 16 boys two years ago did so well.

I can appreciate different strokes for different folks. Some kids have the drive, situation, gifts, circumstances etc that training on their own or playing locally over the summer will help them raise their game substantially. I don't want to diminish the quality summer programs that are run by communities and coaches province wide BUT . . .

I find the idea that you do not see a considerable difference between being coached by top coaches in NB, competing and training with the best players and playing the with expectation and pressures of taking on best in the country being little different that playing all summer at home difficult to swallow. If you plucked any kid from any team in NB and told them they could play pick up/club and train on their own all summer Or that they could train with the best players, get top level coaching, get coached in the off season (in some cases), have training plans for nutrition and conditioning that are being monitored and followed through on, while competing against some of the best players in Canada and the US; I don't really think there is any doubt the majority of kids are going to get better and be better off with a provincial team program.

There are always outliers, kids because of situation or circumstance that either can't or wouldn't get an experience relatively different enough from what they might get locally, but those kids are rare cases IMO. I would argue anyone who is able and capable of making a provincial team should be playing on one and that those experiences will contribute to more growth for them, the programs they return to and basketball in this province then just playing all summer locally or with local club. There are lots of great off season club programs in NB right now from Sussex, Moncton, St. John, Fredericton and there are even 2 in the River Valley. I think these are great opportunities for kids who won't or can't be involved in provincial team programs, but the experience of defining yourself relative to the best in the province and country under top level coaching with Nationals level expectations has to be a better experience for the majority of players around NB then playing at home would be.

Well as someone who has done both. Club teams out of Riverview a couple years back played in every tournament bnb did with the exception of nationals and had more practices and training than bnb because it was all local. The best coaches?? How many of these coaches coach high school basketball in New Brunswick, from what I've seen a very high percentage. What exactly makes them any better than any other coach in New Brunswick. Any top high school program in NB is already teaching teams about training and eating and everything bnb is. I'm not saying bnb is a bad thing but I'm also saying its not the end of the world if you aren't playing it.

I would applaud these coaches for the time and effort put in. However, they are like players, not all the best ones are available for various reasons. We go with what we have and do the best we can..congrats to all players and coaches that go through the grind. I would not knock either scenario BNB or home programs.

That's why scores don't really show the true picture of a game. They could have easily won by 30 or 40 but played all of there bench equally most of the game.
