Great win over Franklin.  Congrats to KSS.
Do you know how the rankings work in Washington? Some of these schools are 3A and some are 4A. I think most are listed as 3A. Do they separate by school size like we do in BC ? Thanks.

From what I have been able to find. They rank thier schools in 3 categories. National, State and Division(school size) The info Posted was for Washington State rankings. If there is someone that has a better understanding of how it all works south of the border. Would be good info to know.  Thanks.

That makes sense. They now have Cleveland at #18 and Wilson (beat Tamanawis in OT) at #19 , Franklin at #35, Spanaway Lake #79, Mt. Tahoma at #145. Impressive results for KSS and Tammy. Well done !

PostSubject: Re: 2015-2016 Tournaments Thread   Sun Jan 03, 2016 6:00 pm

Since there has been a huge break in the rankings with lots of teams playing over the Christmas holidays it will be interesting to see what Howard comes up with. Here are my thoughts.

My Top Ten:

#1 KSS - Going to be tough to knock off KSS this year, but they are beatable but you will have to bring your best game ever otherwise look out. They have only lost to two excellent team from the US. JW North and Cleveland High Seattle and probably should have or could have won both. Is there a sleeper team in BC to take on the challenge?
With Grant Sheppard, Parker Simpson, Matt Lafontaine leading the way and a great cast around them its going to be tough.

#2 Oak Bay - This team has won two tournaments. MVP in both Madhu McConnell is a handful for any team. Jaden Touchie leads the team at PG with a shooting gallery around him, Myka Tang-Blumenschien, Aoi Yamaguchi, Calean Scott.

#3 SWC - this team with 5 grade 12 starters is going to be super tough. I still don't think they have played there best ball yet. They are not deep so foul trouble is concerning for the starters. Harry, Karn, Isaiah, Payjon if they click, look out.

#4 Tamanawis - The Jury still out on this team, they have been absent from all the big tournaments so far. The Big test will come soon in the Legal Beagle Tourney Jan 7-9 where top BC teams will be. They have been playing US teams and doing very well. I am sure they are very good but yet to see them play. Miguel Tomley has been outstanding and will be a handful and only in Grade 10 and has a couple surrounding members that can score as well.

#5 Walnut Grove - Jury still out on Walnut Grove, they are a good team but not playing as a team. Lots of bigs, but Jake Cowley and Ty Rowell are this team. If you slow them down you have a good chance to win on any night.

#6 Yale - They are the defending 4A champs. They return 10 grade 12's and one of the best Grade 12's in BC Riley Braich. Kid can flat out play and everyone knows there role on the team. This team works hard and will be in every game right till the end. Yes they have had some bad losses of late, but don't count them out. They will surprise you.

#7 Kits - they have had some tough losses. I feel this team has a very good team on paper but struggle at times to put it all together. They have a few key players and if they get shut down its a struggle for the team.

#8 Terry Fox - tough team as always. They will be in the mix. If your not ready they will beat you. Not a ton of offense but defence and physical play wins games and they have that.

#9 Holy Cross - a young team, still trying to get things together. Very fast. The more they play the better they are getting. A good press but it can be broken and then they get into foul trouble. So far an up and down season.

#10 WJ Mouat - Up and Down season so far. They are in most games. They have some good players. Jass Singh can flat out shoot the ball. Don't take Mouat lightly. They come ready to play.

HM - Semiahmoo - wow super impressed with this team. Super young. They are lead by two grade 10's and a grade 11. This team don't take lightly they can play. But have moments where they show they are young.

HM - Panorama Ridge - This team interests me. They have some players. If they put it altogether I would not want to face them.

SLSS Bob Carkner classic at Steveston-London

Ok I know there was the Snowball classic, Catholics, Surrey RCMP tourney but this weekend there was some great AAA action in Richmond.  The semi finals were great games between Byrne Creek AAA hm vs Lord Byng AAA #3 and SLSS AAA#4 vs Windermere unranked (shouldn't be)...  The final lived up to everything it was billed as between Byrne Creek and SLSS.  Byrne Creek started off on fire and took the 15-2 lead.  SLSS cut it down to 21-17 after 1st qtr.  Byrne kept playing hard and took a 45-38 lead into the break.  3rd qtr was back and forth with both teams holding the lead but SLSS ended it up 2, 60-58.  The fourth was exciting and saw SLSS pull to a 16 point lead, but Byrne battled back to 6 points but free throws in the last minute and SLSS pulls out the W with a 88-79.  It was one the best games with a lot of great plays.  Byrne Creek is a hell of a team and well coached.
