Pre Season Rankings for 2016-2017

1. Fredericton (They beat every JV team last year; even SJ and only lose 5 players)
2. Bernice MacNaughton (Have some good player returning depending on the varsity program)

4. Riverview (Heard that a lot of their players were going to Stay JV)
5. Saint John (Lots of holes on the varsity team, players will be going up)
6. Leo Hayes (Same as SJ, not much coming from the middle schools)
7. Woodstock (They will improve over the season playing in the AAA Level)
8. Miramichi Valley (Lots of returning players, great coaches)
9. Sussex (Hear that their top player is moving to the Fredericton Area)
10. Moncton (Big, lots of returning players)
11. KV (They are losing everyone)
12. Carleton North (players will be moving to the varsity level, nothing left to compete in the AAA level)

Most of these teams have very little coming up in grade 9 and the new grade rule could impact quite a few.

Harbourview would need to have quite the improvement to move to where you think they'll be.

MacNaughton moves up 2 solid players that will make an impact as grade 9's. If their grade 10's don't move up to Varsity they'll be hard to beat.

If they don't move up that will be true. There are also rumours floating around Moncton that some of those kids are planning to move to Moncton High.

I can't see it, then again I haven't heard anything about it. On the other hand, a couple of those MacNaughton kids are really supposed to be Trimble players anyways.

If one were to move, I imagine they all would. They all seem to hang out together and have played together since Mini.

That they are. The rumour is some are looking to play where they can run the show and after last year they don't see that happening at MacNaughton.

With the recent transfers of (3) Damon Hemphill, Carlo Theriault and Elijah Gosman going to Leo Hayes. I think that (Leo hayes) should on paper have both the top Varsity and JV programs due to the new JV grade 11 rule.

Where did Elijah transfer from?

LHHS will have enough for two Varsity teams it seems.

That, or they'll cut some of their grade 11's, who will then go play JV. That would be very disappointing to see.

Elijah was the top player on the Sussex Jv program last year, unsure of his grade.

I watched him last year play vs. Leo Hayes in Saint John (JV Regionals) he keep them (Sussex) in the game. He is a tall 6"+ kid that can jump.

Rothesay High will have a very strong JV team. A bunch of new grade nines from a couple of Bantam A programs combined with some very big grade 10 kids. Hopefully they face some of the AAA teams in exhibition play.

Elijah will be playing with the varsity team and the JV team will carry two grade 11 kids.

JV Boys result from Tuesday Nov 15. SJHS Greyhounds go to Harbourview's gym and escape with a 68-65 win. SJHS had 5 points in first quarter and had difficulty with the press before they got it going. Good physical hard nosed basketball and the kudos to the referee's for letting them play.
