Oops sorry, didn't realize he broke his ankle, haven't seen him play since early this year.

He broke it just before Christmas, not sure if he'll be back before the end of high school season or not.  It's a shame, he a great kid.

Turner was back in action during the Mike Fitz Game at UNB. I think he played about 5mins. Looked okay!

Deadline for applications is Feb 15th, I doubt we'd hear anything before then.

Did anyone see any of the Grade 9s play this past weekend? If so who where the top players?

Rumor has it Lucas Tompkins had 30 plus in WHS jvs win over CNHS jv in the AA final. 8 or 9 three pointers. Heard lambert was pretty good in SJHS win over FHS in the AAA jv final.

I'd say Tompkins is a lock. I saw that game. From what I saw he has the total package. Handles the ball with ease. Can go left or right. Distributes the ball well and he can definitely shoot it.

Great things are on the horizon for Woodstock basketball. Townsview sent a lot of talent to WHS last season and they're doing the same this season. Burry, Hawkes, Pitcher and the new kid Alex V (who has progressed unbelievably fast) and several other solid grade 8's. Townsview won't be nearly as dominant next season but they will definitely be competitive with Gray at the helm. They also have one grade 6 kid this year (Lenehan) who looks very promising.

Although he's currently in grade 8, I wouldn't count Burry out for U15. Hasn't met anyone all year who could stop him inside. His footwork is better than a lot of high school bigs I've seen.

You must know them quite well, they made me eat my words this past weekend.

The final game vs Evergreen was only a 6 point game in the end.

The Gray kid is something special though, one top grade 7s in the province.

Burry has a chance for a U15, be hard pressed to be on the team that goes to nationals this year just because he wont be able to overpower kids like he does right now. a year or two though he will be able to do that with time in the weight room.

I would say there is 7 or 8 given players. The last 4 or 5 spots will be up for grabs.

They most likely are worried an injury would happen. Injuries mean no AA title.

Sorry, in my head Woodstock/CNHS are the same place to me.

What I meant was that I heard no players from WHS or CNHS were there.

Look at last year U17 went out and took and dropped boys for the ability to defend. Look what happened Bnb went back they didn't go a head . To prove what I'm saying 6 guys from Woodstock and Carlton north beat Team PEI team NS and team NB with supposedly the best players in province. The heart of those six guys and talent proved the best get cut do 2 were they come from. All double AA ball players and beat the best that team NB had.

There is more to putting together a team than simply taking the best players. You need players who will play a role, you need players that get along and you name players that check their attitudes at the door.
