PostSubject: FHS vs. LHHS Varsity Boys   Wed Nov 23, 2016 11:07 am

Packed Gym last night at LHHS. My daughter was there to watch the girls game so we stayed, did not catch the final score of the girls game, but LHHS lost by over 50 to FHS, they look really young.

The Boys game saw SEVEN LHHS players walk out in street clothes smiling and making jokes with their teammates. I heard in the stands it was part of a three game suspension for some social media picture showing them disrespecting another school.

REALLY?? How stupid can you be?

If they were suspended, why were they allowed in the gym, let alone on the bench jumping and hollering for their team?

Even LHHS parents seemed put off by their general attitude. First time I have seen the varsity coach for the boys. He yells and screams at his team on the floor a lot. Not very professional in my opinion.

Anyways, lots of back and forth, with LHHS simply running out of gas with limited players. FHS won by 15, 82-67.

An FHS parent told me it was not a good game for them, one of their big guys was playing with a sprained finger or something. They apparently beat SJHS a couple of times on the weekend though. Anyway, FHS looked really short, but they also look really fast, only a couple of boys over six foot.

Where would the SEVEN players be if not in the gym, cheering on their teammates?

A suspension in my daughters hockey means not allowed in the rink while suspended. I asked others and they said the same thing about professional basketball.

LHHS seems to be getting special treatment. I know one of those kids father is a basketball coach at UNB, and a transfer kid's father is a works for a major sponsor of basketball in NB.

This all smells.

I think it was the school that told them they had to sit out a game not the NBIAA.

Here's my understanding of the situation.
The seven players were suspended 1 game by their school. The suspension was increased to 3 games by the NBIAA.
The players were allowed to be in the gym and on the bench because the offence was not deemed serious enough to warrant keeping them out of the gym and they were permitted to sit on the bench. How it could be serious enough for three games but not serious enough to keep them out of the gym is a little inconsistent but that's ok. They're young adults learning good from bad behaviour. In terms of their conduct on the bench, you only have to look at the pros to see how they behave. It's no wonder they do. As long as it's positive and celebratory and not belittling of the other team, I don't see a problem. If it gets out of hand, the refs can call a bench technical (I think they might have, actually, for something unrelated). That's my understanding. Moving on.

MHS over BMHS in final by 10 or so. Good game, intense. Woodstock went 0-2 Friday. I don't know if they won or lost Saturday, they were playing Lockeview I think.

Why leave the part out where Moncton High is without 2-3 players? At least one starter.

Leo Hayes ends the game on a 22-0 run and wins by 2 with Brett Speedy hitting the game winning jumper from the base line with 2.6 seconds left. Great showing by both teams

Team goes on a 22-0 run to end the finals of a tournament in a rivalry game against a perennial power and the defending AAA champs.

You mic drop "nothing special".

Overrated or underrated is up to you guys and very much dependant on the hype machine surronding a team and their performance.

But "nothing special" seems heavy handed in light of recent evidence. UNless there is a list of teams out there that can go a 22-0 run vs a team the quality of FHS to end game with that much emotion/rivraly . . .

In varsity action CNHS and WHS both smoked Fundy and St. Stephen. The two played off Saturday night and CN won by around 12. Well played game by both teams, CN pulled away in 4th quarter, Broad was on fire.

In JV action, WHS beat Hartland varsity, Moncton JV by 29 and CNHS by around 30. Lost to strong Riverview team by 12.

Took my daughter to watch the LHHS Varsity boys play OHS last night. Was not really even a game. 113-31. Men vs. Boys.

A parent told me that they are now 13-3 on the season, and no losses in NB with a full bench. They look unstoppable.

How many games are they allowed to play in a season at this level??

Answered my own question:

Number of Games Permitted
A senior team shall be limited to 32 games (including all exhibition, control scrimmage, tournament and league play). All games in the regionals, provincials and Final ‘12’ shall not be counted in the 32 game limit.

Who policies this? Or is this also ignored?

All games that count towards the limit* are recorded on the NBIAA site. The number of games is tracked as they are recorded and the NBIAA can in theory track game limits, travel limits, early start times that are limited, etc on that site. INdividual schools are the ones responsible for the inputting of the information, but only one school needs to input it for it to apply to both, generally the home team/school inputs the information.

*Note that at tournaments the minimum number of guaranteed games is all that counts to the limit if you advance to semis/final that gets you more games then other teams those do not count against the total)
