The Tournament started last night and the Boys side is very stacked. Interesting to see what happens!

*BUMP*

Both boys & girls lineups are stacked. What a great tournament to start the season, especially with the Basketball Classic out.

Bishop Carroll and LCI will meet in the semis on the bottom half. Winner of that game wins it all.

PostSubject: my guess    Tue Nov 28, 2017 7:38 pm

my guess on who wins is the games is boys side
Lacombe wins first game easy
med hat in a close one I think med hat is rebuilding and western isn't normally a power house in basketball
pearson wins I don't think they are suppose to be as good as last year but good enough to still win this game
Sir winston churchill beats jasper place I think this will be good jasper has that player who made the national team unless he moved but churchill returns most of the players from last years team
foothills wins lawn not usually any good
Lci beats saint marys LCI should be decent this year evans kid is good
mcnally easy lose quite a bit but I am guessing still tough
CCH wins in what I think is the battle between the worst combined match up CCH lost the players they had last year up coming talent not as good
FL wins second round match up easy
Sir winston wins again
Lci wins foothills lost quite a bit from last years team
Mcnally wins easy
semis FL wins should be a good game
Mcnally wins against Lci another good one I hope at least don't trust Lci inside
FL wins should be a good tourment looking foward to seeing how it all turns out
once again I am shaky on a lot of this for Calgary hope my picks do okay

PostSubject: D4 2017-2018 Predictions   Tue Nov 28, 2017 11:17 pm

I'll also put in my guesses!

First Round:

Lacombe vs. Canmore - Lacombe should win easily
Western vs. Med Hat - I think Western should win this
LBP vs. Chestemere - Not too sure about either team but I would assume LBP
JP vs. SWC - SWC should win but I don't know JP's team at all
FL vs. Foothills - Foothills should win
St. Mary's vs. LCI - I think it will be a very close game but Mary's will end up on top (Winner will go to Finals in my opinion)
McNally vs. Centennial - McNally will win but will be closer than expected
Sturgeon vs. CCHS - Not familiar with either team but would assume CCHS

Second Round:
Lacombe vs. Western - Close game but I would have to pick Lacombe until proven otherwise
LBP vs. SWC - SWC should win convincingly
St. Mary's vs. Foothills - Mary's should win convincingly
McNally vs. CCHS - McNally should win this

Third Round:

Lacombe vs. SWC - Will be a very close game, SWC has the size to keep up with Lacombe and is probably the second best team in Calgary, but will go with Lacombe
St. Mary's vs. McNally - Another close game but going with Mary's

Finals:

Lacombe vs. St Mary's - Will be a good game, Mary's with strong perimeter play and a deep team but Lacombe's length and athleticism should make the difference

Overall, super excited for this weekend, looking forward to watching the D4 and Mike Dea Classic (although I'm not familiar with a lot of the teams!

Really cool tournament...  Most predictions were pretty accurate too!

Boys Observations:

What happened to Pearson?  They were smoked by SWC in the QF.  Anyone at that game?
Speaking of which, SWC looks strong.  They finished 3rd, beat Western & Pearson big, and gave Lacombe a tight game in front of a hostile crowd.
Unless they were missing players, CCH, Jasper Place, Med Hat, Centennial & Foothills will not be in the mix for top teams.  Mary's results seem disappointing, but I didn't seem them play.  Anyone have an idea?
LCI looks good...  I don't know how strong Cardston/Raymond/Magrath are, but LCI was impressive.
Awesome that Lacombe took this.  They have a strong team, & really had a favourable crowd, but they're looking like one of the favourites in Calgary this year.

Girls Observations:
Tough draw for Chestemere & Foothills.  Going up against 2 of the top 4 teams in the first round.  I guess it was a foregone conclusion that they met in the consolation final.  At least they got a good game there...
LCI & Carroll look good.  2 of the top 5 teams in the province right there (Kane, Centennial, another Edmonton team)
Francis was a surprise.  I guess they might actually be better than I thought - maybe with Mary's to fight for 3rd, but ahead of Abe & Western?
